VHS : I Come in Peace
Essentially, "I Come In Peace" (aka "Dark Angel") is a great idea that was only moderately well exectued. With the exception of appearing in a religious drama, this is probably the strangest vehicle for action hero Dolph Lundgren to get himself over, and to some degree, the Swedish Superman makes it work, but even along with the passing performances of the rest of the cast and a pretty original bad guy, "Peace" ends up being forgettable due to its uninspired pacing and overall lack of action.

Jack Caine (Lundgren) is a vice cop who's earned himself notoriety for doing things his way, much to the dislike of the department. After being assigned a by-the-book partner whom he frequently finds himself at odds with (Brian Benben, "Radioland Murders"), Caine's personal war on Houston's ... Read More

VHS : Rocky 4
Very entertaining movie, but the DVD fails to include the subtitles for the Russian dialogue between Drago and his trainer during the fight. This sucks, because it really added to the movie in its original form.

VHS : Punisher (1989)
I hate to say this, but this version is a little bit better than the 2004 version. It has a lot more action and more killing off bad guys. It's been five years since Frank Castle's family died, and he is getting his revenge and punishing all the corrupt people and mafia. This reminds me a lot of Max Payne, which is one of my favorite games. The only downfall of this movie is that the Punisher doesn't wear his famous skull shirt. If you love action, you'll love THE PUNISHER!!!

VHS : Masters of the Universe
He-Man (Dolph Lundgren), his friends Duncan (Jon Cypher) and Teela (Chelsea Field), and a supposedly comical gnome-like creature must travel from an alternative universe, Eternia, to Earth in order to find "the cosmic key", a multi-dimensional skeleton key that will allow them to rescue their Sorceress from the evil Skeletor (Frank Langella) and save Eternia. While on Earth they team up with two teenagers, Julie (Courtney Cox), who has recently lost her parents in a plane crash, and her boyfriend, aspiring musician Kevin (Robert Duncan McNeill).

I saw this film for the first time when I was about 6 and it was on in cinemas. At that time I religiously watched the He-Man cartoon series and had a collection of He-Man action figures, and thought the film was pretty cool, although, I remember ... Read More

VHS : Bridge of Dragons
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is a well known martial artist who plays bad guy Warlord Ruechang. Dolph Lungren is one of Ruechang's loyal soldiers who is trained to never question orders. However, Reuchang continues to abuse the princess, played by Rachel Shane, whose father he killed. Lungren finally challenges Ruechang to a final scene that is very 'extreme' with broken bones and even sword action!
This movie is a fantasy action film that has a fictional military that is governed by warlord Ruechang. Good martial arts action. I rate this movie with 5 stars. This movie gets one entire star just because Lungren is in the movie. I must say, even though Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Ruechang) is a bad guy in this movie, I enjoyed his performance in Bridge of Dragons.
Very entertaining!!

This movie got some good reviews and I expected it to be a return to form for Dolph Lundgren. Instead, I found this to be his worst movie. The script is more or less completely incoherent. I lost interest within a couple of minutes and found myself checking my watch, hoping the movie would end soon. I wouldn't recommend this movie even to Dolph Lundgren fans. I am a fan but I wish I had spent my time watching something else.

First of all, this film suffers from some really poor casting. My husband is part Native-American, and his entire family is Native, and I know what they look like. Excuse me, but the lead actress didn't look very Native American. Pardon my un-PC stance, but I think that actors should look like the races or cultures they are portraying unless they are portraying a person of mixed background! Also, Dolph Lundgren played a Russian, again. Why is he being typecast again as a Russian? He looks like a Scandinavian! Is it all because of "Rocky?"

I also didn't think he was convincing as the "good guy," and my husband, who is a D.L. fan, likes him when he plays the villain. I do have to admit though that Lundgren was the best actor from the bunch!

I didn't really have that much of ... Read More

Nick Gunar (Dolph Lundgren) tries to put his mercenary past behind him, but fails because, in the words of his best friend, his heart isn't in anything else. When a pair of unscrupulous yuppies offer him a quick paycheck for what ought to be a walk in the park, the good old days seem to be back. Assembling an elite squad of merc friends, Gunar leads an incursion into a tropical paradise to squeeze the peace-loving natives into signing over the mineral rights to their homeland. But the natives have seen all this before and won't give in, and before they even know it Gunar and his warriors are infected with the island spirit--peace. But Gunar's bosses aren't so easily put off, and when it becomes clear Gunar isn't going to get them what they want, they bring in the big guns, led by Gunar's long-time rival, the sadistic ... A fascinating film that brings together several genres and also several influences. First the technical level of virtual reality and computerized graphics. Interesting though not exceptionally original (see for one example The Lawnmower Man). Second the Japanese, Chinese, Honk Kong, Kung Fu type of action. There it is in a way renewed because it is grafted onto, into or under another type of post-apocalyptic vision that is typically American: underground resistance (with one of the archetypes being the Terminator trilogy, or The Running Man) or people who refuse the modern slavery imposed by the corporate trust that governs and controls the world, through dependence on data-processing machines that create a nervous disorder that is both incurable and catching. The models of this underground vision are numerous. Here he sets ... Read More
