VHS : Action in the North Atlantic
Despite plenty of wartime propaganda and the usual amount of clichés and other staples of WWII action melodramas, ACTION IN THE NORTH Atlantic is given a boost by some of the best staged action scenes ever featured in a Warner Bros. movie of that era.

The realism is startling considering that special effects then included no computer engineering. The script is basically the story of U.S. Merchant Marine survivors of a battle determined to sink the ship that ruthlessly cut into their lifeboat. The climax has them getting their revenge on the Germans after a fierce battle that concludes with the Americans and their farewell ceremonies to shipmates killed during battle. Bogart is given some flag-waving lines to read and the film concludes with a commentary using FDR's voice to salute ... Read More

VHS : Destination Tokyo
This is one of this few tense War films that really will keep you in absolute tension from start to finish.

Filmed with overpowering realism and sobriety, the smart script depicts the expectations of the crew before the final sequence when they arrive to Japan to follow strategic instructions of military intelligence and to stop the enemy's float.

Cary Grant in one of his most credible roles. An admirable direction of Delmer Davis.

This was a good movie but the directing in this movie was poorly done. There were some strong preformances from Dane Clark and Andy Devine. The storyline was simple. An army officer (Clark)forces settlers to move foward because of rumored indian attack.Dorothy Patrick,John Carradine, and Raymond Burr co-star in this old western flick.

Remember when a Star would sign as many autographs as possible?

Remember the good' ole days. That's what "Hollywood Canteen" is about.

"Hollywood Canteen" is a star-studded blockbuster from the 1940's. It revolves around two fictional characters that are on leave in Hollywood. What's there to do in the meantime? Well, go to the "Hollywood Canteen," of course!

Many of Hollywood's biggest starts of the 40's work at the "Hollywood Canteen." They entertain and serve the service boys.

This was Joan Crawford's first picture with Warners after her 18 year tenure with MGM abruptly ended. But, Joanie ... Read More

VHS : Somewhere I'll Find You
Jonny (Clark Gable) and Kirk (Robert Sterling) Davis are reporters, but they aren't too popular with the newspaper they work for. They're war correspondants and they want to print the facts, not gloss over them to prevent America from joining the war. While out of work for a short time, they run across another reporter, a beautiful blonde named Paula (Lana Turner). Kirk has fallen in love with her and hopes to make her his wife, but Jonny's got her wrapped around his finger. He wants her just as badly, but his attention span is short, and he hurts her more than she bargained for. All the while, a war is raging between Japan and China with these reporters thrust into the midst of it all.

Unfortunately, the back of the VHS box makes this movie out to be more of an intense romance than it actually is. Sure, ... Read More
