This version starring Alec Guinness is clearly superior to the original. The story doesn't get cut off at the end as in the American original to keep it within the time limits, in short it is a quality English movie. This is a copy from a tape as it was never made as a DVD, too bad, some quality is lost. I would rate the DVD as good overall; quality script, actors, settings, color photography, but the sound was weak in places. Service was prompt.

Bought the original VHS copy in 1980. Have all but worn it out. Have been searching for another copy only to find that later versions are shorter in length. This version, with Rickey Schroeder and Alec Guiness, needs to be on DVD in the original full length. Loaned it to many friends and received the same review by all ages.

We found this to be a great price compared to buying in a store. We were happy that it was so easy to order and came very quickly after we ordered it. Of course it was in great condition too.

Like all the Monty Python alumni, John Cleese is talented and funny. From Monty Python (of course) to A Fish Called Wanda, Cleese always just makes me laugh. And it is not different in Fawlty Towers, where he is at his acerbic and crazy best as the owner of a hotel where circumstances always leads to laughs, and Cleese is surrounded with other actos who do a great job. Echos of Monty Pythin are here, plus other elements thrown in, so if you are a Python or Cleese Fan you will find the series hilarious. British style humor that works well for all and the extras do add to the set which makes it a wothwhile DVD set to have in your collection since the episodes, like all good comedy, can be watched more than once and still be worth it.

This is a collection of the very first season of Monty Python's Flying Circus. Included in this boxed set are: Famous Deaths, Man with Three Buttocks, Flying Sheep, Nudge Nudge Wink Wink, Undressing in Public, Confuse-A-Cat, and Silly Job Interview and that's just the highlights! These comedy shows aired in Great Britain in 1969 and the humor holds up astonishingly well. These guys are just as odd now as they were when they first started and these comic riffs rely on universally funny things such as nudity, death, humiliation, insanity, TV programming, government and history. It's a bit like a medieval morality play gone wrong with young men dressing as old women. Really cheesy sets and totally un-special effects combine with inspired writing and timing to produce something that became a cult classic.
