Ralph is back! John Clark Matthews is amazing. This movie was hilarious! I remember some funny lines. Ralph: I thought I gave you a ride. I did, didn't I? [later] Uncle Lester: Ralph you're grounded!

Ralph: But I did wat you said. Uncle Lester: Did what I said, but I didn't say to do that!

Fred Savage was cool for Garfield, and Conchata Ferrel was funny for Aunt Jill. Kellie Martin who played Karen was amazing, and Sara Gilbert and Summer Phoenix who were Stephanie and Vanessa were great. Walker Edmiston was sssssssssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooo good and scary for Catso. I've seen Walker in other movies, but not Edan Gross who was the artful Merton. Oh, yeah, another funny line. Ralph: That Catso cat needs a lesson, that I'm going to teach him! ... Read More

"Where the River Runs Black" (1986 - 97 minutes), directed by Christopher Cain, is a beautiful adaptation for the cinema of the awarded novel "Lazaro", of David Kendall. The film mix religion and mysticism when tells the history of a boy created in the Amazonian forest that is taken to be educated in an orphanage. The tram starts when an American missionary, the idealistic priest Mahoney (the actor Peter Horton) - that works in the region where the waters of the River Amazon becomes black -, knows a mysterious and sensual woman. A child is born of this relation and Mahoney dies. The boy, Lazarus, is played by a 10 years old Brazilian boy, Alessandro Rabelo who carried out the film side by side to the experienced actor Charles Durning (priest O'Reilly). Educated in the forest, Lazarus develops ... Read More

I saw this wonderful movie in 1990 when it first came out. I was already a Tim Burton fan of sorts, but this made me a Burton fanatic. I saw it first with my wife, and I remember thinking at the very beginning, when Danny Elfman's haunting, beautiful score was only a few notes old, that I was going to love this film. And I did. It just hit me right in the heart, in the most vulnerable, deepest part of my soul. I know that sounds pretentious, but it's the best I can do with my limited writing ability. Now understand, I was 39 years old at the time, a pipefitter/welder by trade, certainly not someone people would think of as "sensitive" or "artistic" by nature. I've been in more than my share of fistfights, ride a Harley, and love guns, power tools, and anything that explodes. But by the end of ... Read More

We just picked this movie up kind of by accident at the movie rental store, but it was excellent. It's a very beautiful story with some significant ideas and a great portrait of the World War I era.

I love period dramas, but this was the worst. I did not even finish the movie because it was awful. The immorality alone took it from period drama to pandering soap opera. The characters are weak-willed, lack integrity and make mistake after mistake which they resolve by less than noble means. From homosexuality to abortion to infidelity, this movie was totally tasteless and not deserving of anyone's time or attention. Skip it.

This is story ranks among my favorites. The tenderness revealed despite the harshness of their existence made me want to purchase this DVD for everyone I know. I found it to be captivating as the characters displayed such courage. The background song lifted my soul.
