As a young girl I loved watching Anne of Green Gables...I remember I could never get enough of the show...I always wished it was on longer/more often, etc. So now, as an adult, I purchased this set and could not be more pleased...It's such a witty, wholesome show and I highly recommend this product for men, women, and children of all ages!

VHS : Anne of Avonlea
I stumbled upon Anne of Green Gables rather late in life, (56). I have watched the first two movies and can say honestly, I believe them to be the best movies I have seen in some time. Truly family oriented, not a period movie, great for all ages. Anne is simply an amazing girl turned woman. I look forward to purchases all the sequels.

VHS : Nun's Story (1959)
This is one of my all-time favorite movies of Audrey Hepburn. I have the VHS and wore it out. I was very glad to see it released on DVD. So many of my favorite classic movies are not released on DVD. The Nun's Story is an enthralling story of a young idealistic young woman who was brilliant in medicine thanks to the tutelage of her doctor father. Upon learning that the man she loves carries genes that will pass on severe mental disabilities, they decided that it wouldn't be right to marry. Gabrielle decides that since her life in the world was essentially over, the convent would be her best option. She works hard to become the perfect nun. Along with all the spiritual struggles she went thru, she was also able to obtain degrees in tropical medicine (the first step towards service in the ... Read More

John Wayne's late movie career was enhanced by this traditional yet shocking twist of a ending. His death at the hands of Bruce Dern's character Long Hair and fatherly sage to his cowhands (cow children) make this an appealing western. This movie only adds to his legacy.

VHS : Annie Hall
Hailed as Woody Allen's finest film, `Annie Hall' has some pretty weighty expectations to live up to, and what amazes me is that each and every time I watch it I am reminded of why Allen is loved to much among the cinemaphiles like myself. Now I admit to not having seen much Allen, and I admit that the first time I saw `Annie Hall' I shut it off about ten minutes in because I couldn't get into it. I was put off by Allen's style of storytelling. Then I saw some of Allen's more recent work, like `Match Point' and the ever brilliant `Hannah and Her Sisters' (I know, not really recent) and I was prompted to give `Annie Hall' another try. I found that the opening didn't put me off as much as I remembered and soon I was completely engrossed in the film.

I seriously couldn't take my eyes ... Read More

This is such a perfect portrait of people I have known who have built emotional moats around their castle of humanity....
Lemmon's character is commited to having no commitment...So busy loving the world he is unable to totally love those who to whom he is closest.
Watch this film with friends and I guarentee you will have one of the greatest discussions you have ever had about all of the implications...A totally human film
Great Song by Barry Manlow heard over the credits sums up the whole idea of the film...

This is William E. O'Bryant once again. I wanted to add some other comments about this film, but Amazon only allows one comment per customer. Anyway, this is what I wanted to add:

I also wanted to say that this movie is in essence, about God. It's about Him seeing all, and knowing all. The past, present, and future. It's about Him choosing a man in the right position and then giving him the power of second sight, to not only save the world, but to also help those around him in the process. In the end, this story is about the Love of God, and the hand that He Himself must put in, in order to save humanity from itself. As far as I'm concerned, this film is my favorite out of the 900 odd DVD's that I currently own. My only wish is to go back in time and to be on the crew of this film. ... Read More

I remember watching this movie when I was about 10 and I haven't seen it in a long time but I still, at times, think about this movie. The storyline is great and the way Mr. Sullivan does this is very captivating and will touch your heart.
