Yes, the movie was done on a shoestring budget, and some of the acting is very average. But there are a few things people miss. There is about three minutes total of nongun violence. This is NOT a kick-fest.

The townies vs the commune people conflict is a bit simple, but things like this really do happen, especially in small towns. Heck, look at the civil rights demonstrations in the 50's and 60's if you want to see real examples of "good folk" who will kill and bully people who look different. Even today, someone in Texas occasionally chains and drags a black man to his death for the crime of.....being black.

The people who think this is drivel or whatever are either so far out of reality they do not know what really happens or they are so in synch with their "fellow ... Read More

VHS : Androcles & The Lion
This movie is highly entertaining and very funny. I had laughed at some scenes in this movie. Even kids will enjoy this movie.
"Androcles and the Lion" is about a meek tailor befriending a lion by removing a thorn out of his paw (his mean wife ran away though). Androcles named the lion "Tommy". The tailor, Androcles, gets captured by the Roman army because he's a Christian, and makes friends with a beautiful woman and a burly man named Fevvorus (sp?), among other Christians with them. The beautiful woman, named Lavina, falls in love with a Roman Captain (played by Victor Mature), but she still keeps her faith in God. Later when all the Christians arrived at the Colluseum where the fighting to kill the Christian men, and the lions are for the ladies to die, Fevvorus slays all the fighters and won ... Read More

VHS : Suddenly
Shortly after his celebrated turn in "From Here to Eternity," Sinatra was cast as a cold-blooded killer in Lewis Allen's gritty thriller "Suddenly." Anticipating the Kennedy assassination by several years--Lee Harvey Oswald reportedly viewed it days before he killed JFK--"Suddenly" has the look and feel of a "B" movie quickie, but Sinatra's intensity blazes off the screen. Still thin as a reed, the actor excels as a human time bomb, while Hayden's Sheriff provides a decent, steady counterpoint. Only debit: that annoying little boy- but just focus on Ol' Blue Eyes.

VHS : Hitch-Hiker (1953)
This movie is proof positive that you do not need a lavish budget ,colour ,star names and a lengthy running time in order to make a quality movie.Without the "benefit" of any of the above the picture is an utter gem .

Its simple but compelling storyline sees 2 friends played by Edmond O'Brien and Frank Lovejoy on a fishing trip and they stop to pick up a hitcher ,a gaunt and slightly creepy looking man who just happens to be a killer .His victims are those unwise and unwary enough to give him a lift .He forces them at gunpoint to drive him over the border to Mexico where he proposes to make his escape from justice .He must continuue to exercise power over the 2 men while escaping the police manhunt .

Ther movie benfits from crisp monochrome location photography of the stark landscapes of the ... Read More
