VHS : Cinderella (Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection)
Walt said that the animation of Cinderella's dress changing with the wave of the Fairy Godmother's Wand was his favorite piece of animation of all.. I couldn't agree more. It is absolutely sparkling, glittery, magical fun. This movie holds up so well... we enjoy it over and again and it never occurs to me (or my children) that it is well over 50 years old. The story is timeless, the music is charming and we're absolutely wild about Jaq and Gus!

The bonus features on this DVD are okay. The background/history was interesting. Otherwise, I was unimprssed with the bonus music, etc. But then, bonus features for older movies are rarely terrific because the original cast / staff is typically unavailable for interview.

I'm a big fan of "old" movies, I love this particular movie genre but I was never a fan of Bette Davis, that is, until I watched this film. I've since become an avid fan and collector and I've come to believe she was the finest actress of all time. Isn't that what's so great about movies; that they often make profound impacts on our lives! Well this movie made an impact on mine and I hope it does the same for yours. And if you're looking for the next Davis film - try Watch on the Rhine. Even hubby liked that one!

Jesse James was both outlaw and idol. He reacted in a way many would have liked to when wronged. Many have played the role of Jesse James, this classic remains one of the best. It is a must for any historical/western collector. With Tyrone Power, Henry Fonda and Randolph Scott playing the key characters you are in for a real treat in a movie you will watch over and over.

...then by all means, check out this delightfully bizarre and obscure film.
Firstly, I want to stress my disappointment with the outrageously negative reviews that proceeded my post. It seems certain people can not separate a politically charged fantasy film from their current and modern perspectives concerning politics. They blast this harmless little film because of its content, never once commenting on the entertainment value as a movie. They write harshly against the film as a whole because it goes against their personal political beliefs, yet, these same type of people will profusely praise films that deal with serial killers, drug addicts and thieves. Their negative words would be the equivalent of me saying "Psycho" (1960) is a horrible film because it's about a very disturbed killer, so do not watch ... Read More

I love this movie. I first saw it at the library and checked it out. There have been several movies made with the same theme. I believe it is based on a play which was based on a book. You've Got Mail is the currently well-known one and was based on this movie. The case is simple and the dvd works great, but the film itself isn't perfect by most modern standards. It is old and not in color and Hungary looks more like Hollywood. Only a few actors use accents, the rest speak normally. At times it can be a bit cheesy. But I still love it. There aren't many movies I can watch more than once or twice without getting bored. This is one I can watch many times and still enjoy. Anyone who enjoys a good clean romance will find this delightful. Jimmy Stewart is particularly good.

I bought this video new. The story line is excellent. The acting is excellent. The scene in the courtroom is clever and excellent. The depiction of American history is excellent. The costumes are stylized and overwrought, as was typical during the earlier days of Hollywood. The film is an excellent teaching device for kids. This film was one of the eternal favorites of our parents' generation and our grandparents' generation. But there is a slight problem. There are irritating crackling noises throughout. Why is this? The crackling noises make the movie almost unbearable. I was only able to watch this otherwise excellent movie only once. I own about 50 videotapes, many of them bought second hand. Crackling noises of the same type occur on only one of these, namely, Three Stooges in Orbit, which I bought new. Can ... Read More

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I got quite a few laughs out of it. There are a couple of Lucy flicks I like better, so that's why I rated it a "4". The first situation, where she is in prison, is a little beyond reality. That is, I can't believe she served so much time. They should have been able to get her out sooner. Anyway, I love to watch the old TV series, but it's refreshing to see Lucy in a different role. Lucy was as good as I expected her to be. And Jack Oakie is as crazy as ever, but I usually enjoy movies he's in as well. I would recommend this movie to any classic movie fan, and if you're a Lucy fan, that just makes it better.
