VHS : Archie-Return to Riverdale
When ever I travel I always buy Arche comics because they provide joyous laughs. Watching this movie a week ago made me realize that some comics shouldn't be made into movies. The cast mainly full of unknowns excepet for Lauren Holly. The plot revoles around the gang at their high school reunion. But where are Chuck and Dilton ? Another flaw is having the same charcters play each other when their 15 which is dumb. The film's low point comes when Jughead tries to rap. I would made this film when the gang was in high school and have them reunite at the end instead of baseing the whole film around the reunion. I'm also thankful that the feature film version that was in devolpement back in 2001 with a cast incudling Tobey Maugiure,Joshua Jackson and Christina Ricci got stuck in devlopment hell.

VHS : Night of Dark Shadows
Those that are not fans of Dark Shadows will never see the "Dan Curtis" creativity in this movie. The late Dan Curtis was like a Gene Roddenberry when it came to daytime horror drama. Underappreciated and never quite understood, he made us love to be scared. Night of Dark Shadows, gives David Selby and Kate Jackson (a very young Kate Jackson) a chance to standout on their own from the other cast members in their own movie. David Selby is quite versital and shows that he can portray more than one character and personality within a movie. Kate's role is unfortunately limited to just being suspicious and scared all the time. The plot is definately done in Curtis' style, moving quickly through the layers of suspense.

Panned as one of the worst movies -- I don't think so -- you gotta be a ... Read More

I know that giving this melodramatic tearjerker a 5-star rating is very generous, but I can't help but love this movie! Jane Seymour, even with glasses and trying to look older, is stunningly beautiful in this tale of a doomed romance.

Christopher Gartin plays Steven Harper, an 18-year-old college student who feels a passion for piano playing. The problem is that in his small town there is no one who shares his passion, especially not his father who was crippled in the Vietnam War. Steven feels hopelessly lost...until he meets the world-reknowned pianist Hadley Norman (Jane Seymour), who happens to move into town.

At first, Hadley wants nothing to do with Steven, because she's a recluse and is busy working on writing a concerto. But when she hears his playing, she decides to become a ... Read More

This was not very funny. It lacked a lot of the subtle intellectual nuances that comedy usually brings. I found it very dated and dull. There were some skits that were mildly amusing, but not funny. I wish I had never made this purchase.

VHS : Highlander 2: Quickening
Highlander 2 came out back in 1991. I saw the original version and I was not impressed with it. The special effects were terrible and the plot was pretty jagged. Then the DVD came out. I never saw the Renegade version but I was lucky enough to catch the 2-Disc edition from Lionsgate. Needless to say, I was impressed. The special effects look so much better due to all of the digital reenhancing. The quickening effects look way better than the effects in the original. The energy shield effects look way better too to give it a much darker atmosphere. The sword fights are not as good as the original but they are good. It's also fun to see Katana hijack a train and go nuts. Katana is a good villain but he'll never beat the Kurgan (YOU WILL ALWAYS BE WEAKER THAN I!). Russell Mulcahy should be given a pat onthe back for making one of the most ... Read More

La Bûche (Season's Beatings) is a charming 1999 French comedy by director and screenwriter Danièle Thompson. Thompson is known for her films, Cousin, cousine, Jet Lag, and Avenue Montaigne. Her directorial debut, La Bûche stars Sabine Azéma, Emmanuelle Béart, and Charlotte Gainsbourg, who play three grown daughters who conspire to reunite their divorced parents, who haven't spoken to each other for fifteen years. Set over four eventful days before Christmas, the film is a witty mix of holiday nostalgia and family dysfunction. The eldest daughter, Louba (Azéma) lives with their father Stanislas (Claude Rich), sings bohemian songs at a Russian restaurant, and is having an affair with a married man, Gilbert (Jean-Pierre Darroussin). She unexpectedly discovers she is pregnant at age 42. Sonia (Béart) is financially successful, bourgeois, ... Read More

Considering the quality of this film, one would think that it should have won more awards, more acclaim. One factor might have been that anyone under the age of 46 in 1994 would have had little or no recollection of the television scandals which "broke" in 1959. Secondly, since there were no laws pertaining to television ethics, nobody went to jail. Indeed, years later, the "Bobsey Twins"- Jack Barry and Dan Enright were right back at it again making handsome sums on "The Joker's Wild". Additionally, let's not forget that "21" was only the tip of the iceberg.Quickly, "The $64,000 Question", "Tic-Tac-Dough"(another Enright,N.B.C. debacle), and "Dotto" soon came crashing down, one upon another. Finally, Bob Kittner's remark of television being a great educational tool could easily have become reality had there been a market for it. Instead, ... Read More
