If you are looking for a wholesome film that is well acted with a storyline that is original and captivating, this is the film for you and your family. Set in historic America, it admirably portrays the upright pioneering values of God-fearing, hard-working American immigrants. The complex three dimensionality of the characters creates a chemistry rarely seen in good story-telling movies. Don't miss this one, the kids and you will love it.

"They laughed at him, Mississippi. That'll make the difference." -- Wayne to Caan regarding Mitchum

Director Howard Hawks once again hooked up with John Wayne to revisit the moral codes and deep loyalty of good men to others who live by this code. As in nearly all films made by this great director, the theme of women being the downfall of good men who still cannot live without them remains prominent. This remake of Rio Bravo is fabulously entertaining and as such stands as one of the truly great films in the genre.

Wayne may indeed be marvelous here in one of his best performances, but he has stiff competition from Robert Mitchum and a very young James Caan. The mere fact that Hawks could assemble such a cast is in itself astounding. To have Robert Mitchum and ... Read More

As much as I'd like to think that my debate career was on the same line as College football quarterback, some how it just didn't have the same impact. I viewed this movie the same way geologists viewed 10.0 and Astonomers viewed Armageddon. It was pretty laughable. Knowing that Tom Miller, UCLA Debate coach, was the consultant for this movie explains it all. I truly believe that this movie expresses how he views himself

I enjoyed this movie in the theater and bought this Blu-Ray disc to see it in high definition. Unfortunately, the Audio on the disc box indicates Dolby Digital TrueHD 5.1. Even the Blu-ray disc menu shows TrueHD as an option, but it doesn't work! I use an Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver to playback the Hi-Def audio like TrueHD and dts-HD. The sound is a big improvement from regular Dolby Digital. For some reason, this option doesn't work with this disk. (Wonder if anyone else experienced this problem???)
So, a four star movie gets only 3!

George Strait is not really a big box office draw and not really a "great actor" but it was a good film, and George did pretty good for being his first movie, at least that I was aware of. The music was really nice. I went out and bought both the CD and DVD. The story line was pretty good but not an action pack film. If you really love George Strait you'll really love this movie !!

VHS : Back to the Future
Have you ever wanted to travel through time? To see the future? To witness historic events? Marty McFy(Michael J. Fox) finds hinself facing this when his friend "Doc" Emmett L. Brown(Christopher Lloyd) builds a time machine. Marty is accidentally sent back to 1955 (from 1985) ( he's only 17, so he hasn't been born yet) and disrupts his parents'(Lea Thompson and Crispin Glover) first meeting. On top of that, he might be stuck in 1955 because there isn't much plutonium around yet, and that's what makes the car a time machine.

The actors do a great job of combining reality and science fiction to make my favorite movie.

Do not show to young children who do not know cussing is wrong, as charactars swear freely.

The film begins with a very impressive display of weaponry skills by none other than Sho Kosugi in full Ninja uniform, including sai, shinobi-gatana, tonfa, nunchaku, manriki {bola}, blowgun, shiroken, bow & arrow, and spear-staff. Blend into white ninja {color indicative of novice/apprentice} amidst the wilderness undergoing his final "law of the jungle" test until recognized as full Ninja calibre; he is attacked by several red ninjas on his way back to the dojo, expertly defending himself until facing the Shidoshi himself, shockingly beheading him before entering in for judgement {this was a mere test to decipher whether or not he would be able to assassinate someone familiar to him to fulfill a mission, as many times an enemy would employ such illusionary tactics to distract from the task at hand}; in quite ...
