VHS : Howard the Duck
Howard the Duck must be one of the best movies I ever saw while I was growing up. When I found out how horrible the movie did box-office wise, I thought, Okay, what went wrong? The movie takes home 4 razzies including worst picture of 1986 and George Lucas disowns the picture afterwards. Pixar Animation was founded because of this movie. That should account for something (check out IMDB.com for that). As for the DVD, on dvdverdict.com somebody interviewed director Willard Huyck and writer Gloria Katz and they were surprised when the movie wasn't available on DVD yet. Willard said they may have to talk to George Lucas to get the movie available on Region 1. If Universal ever puts it out on DVD I hope that Howard the Duck gets the special edition treatment it deserves in widescreen no doubt. ... Read More

I've owned this video for years and am going to transfer it to dvd as I can't find it on that media.

I found many parts of this movie poignant, and the chase scene probably one of the most, if not THE most, hysterical in movie history.

If you don't find assisted suicide distasteful, or at least can understand the reasons for a person wishing to decide for themselves what their quality of life is and should be, do buy this movie.

I don't even want to talk about it. I hope Nick Nolte got a fat paycheck for wearing that red negligee. Makes his infamous DUI mug shot look good. The one authentic scene is where Dwayne reads about "himself" in Trout's book. Everything else--and I mean everything--is just awful.

VHS : Snake Eyes (1998)
Brian De Palma has always been one of my favorite directors; he has an extraordinary way to bring his ideas to screen. Like his other films he brings in the awesome camera angles that are of course his trademark. But here the angles seem useless, they are well brought out and at times a bit overused but definitely pointless.

The film story which is a bit far-fetched commences with a police detective attending a championship boxing match (played by Nicolas Cage). In the match we witness from many deferent angles an assassination during the match. The question now lies as to who is responsible for the assassination and why. Little by little we are revealed what happened and how it happened from many points of view. Now even though the angles and different views are quite enticing and boggles ... Read More
