VHS : Dark Side of the Sun
It was five years ago that I remember watching most of this movie at 2 in the morning. I didn't know the name of the actors nor anything else about the movie (never heard of Brad Pitt yet) but the memory of watching this film was very profound. I have been trying to find it for a long time. I cried myself to sleep at the end because this film invokes an emotion I can't even express. I just loved it...the message, the courage, the location and the sadness. To quote the Thornbirds "true love is only bought at the cost of great pain." I was quite sick as a child and I had a friend that died of a rare skin disease similar to the film. I understand that in suffering is a kind of beauty and this movie invokes that hauntingly fragile sentiment of loss. I was taught that the Son of God rose on the third ... Read More

VHS : Night Life
I remember I was staying up late one night, flipping around for something good on SHOWTIME (I was alot younger when this happened, early teens maybe)......and I come across "Night Life." The opening scene of this movie is actually quite creepy...and the movie makes sure you keep your interest from beginning to end! Even today, when I am alot older, the scares in this movie still SCARE me. That's why I love this flick.....well, that, and it also has a sense of humor.

Watch this on a dark night, it will freak you out. The suspense is AWESOME, like none seen in horror movies in a long time. The characters are loveable, and this movie is just an all-out roller-coaster ride that never stops entertaining you.

Reccomended!!!

A great coming of age movie set in 1975 detroit. 3 high school friends are now graduated with uncertain futures. None went to college and none have decent jobs so they are emotionally caught between adulthood and the high school mentality of living at home. Symbolic of this are the high school letter jackets that two of the friends still wear. Stephen baldwin plays a guy who is losing his identity. He was cool in high school but now as an adult he is just another guy. Mort is the most intellectual and introspective of the three but he knows that he needs to go to college to realize his dream of being a writer. A dream that doesn't recieve much support from his friends. In fact he never shares a scholarship notice from central michigan university with them.

Early in the movie they encounter ... Read More

This is one of those movies that deserves the special edition treatment, but has yet to see one. And, to the person that cited DREAM A LITTLE DREAM as being on the same level, you have no taste. DREAM A LITTLE DREAM is mediocre and shouldn't be mentioned in relation to VOLUME, or John Hughes, or GOOD.
