There is probably problems with licensing parts of the Soundtrack... One Part in particular ~ The Dead Kennedy's song playing while they are all in the Kitchen... Holiday in Cambodia. There have been lawsuits over this song between band members and Jello Biafra when Levi's wanted to use it in a commercial. Royalty payment disputes and the like. It has probably killed any chance of getting this film released on DVD.

I'm a boxing fan and train often but I have no idea why people like this movie. It's a story about a cocky, arrogant jerk who likes to abuse the people around him both mentally and physically. Most of the movie is of him degrading women, screaming profanities to them and hitting them. In one scene he beats his own brother badly in a jealous rage, stomping him and then slugs his own 20 year old wife. The only thing I learned from this movie is that Jake Lamotta was one horrible person. This movie does nothing for boxing. It basically just shows boxers as violent wife beaters who can take punches. Even the fight scenes do nothing to showcase the art of boxing.

Casper
Many people have asked me when I was going to kick off the Halloween Season recently, and now I have. Casper is a child-friendly ghost story that is based off an old cartoon series. Considering this film was made in 1995, Casper has held up very well. If you are looking for a fun movie for your children to watch, you might want to check out Casper. If you are an adult, avoid this at all costs.

The story is very light hearted. Carrigan, a greedy woman, has just inherited a haunted Manor. There are three threatening ghosts: Stretch, Stinkie, and Fatso. There is also a friendly ghost, Casper. Carrigan knows of a treasure somewhere in the manor, but needs to get the ghosts out of way to get to it. After many other choices, she settles with Dr. Harvey. Harvey and his daughter, Kat, ... I thought the interaction between Patrick Dempsey and Alyssa Milano was beautiful. Some of the other characters kind of spoiled the movie for me. The idiodic character that Robert Downey, Jr. played in my opinion, could have been left out. Sean Penn's character was just plain wierd! I bought the movie for Patrick and Alyssa's acting. Patrick was surpurb as an ALS victim. I really loved Alyssa's character.

The film begins underwater. A large fish is bitten in half. What did it? A group of water skiers practice acrobatics, then something happens. The "Sea World" theme park is opening. Its lagoon has an opening to the sea. Why are the dolphins upset? A man goes into the water after dusk. Will he have an accident? [We know what will happen but don't know when.] Somebody doesn't show up for work. Why are the dolphins acting strangely? [Pliny wrote a story about a dolphin that rescued a man at sea.] Does show business dictate the solution to a problem?

Is night time the right time to go shark hunting? Can a fish be used as an attraction? What if a dead body shocks the customers? Does the manager remind you of Dilbert's world? Has Murphy's Law been repealed? [No.] Will the mother of all sharks sneak into ... Read More

The singer in the bar scenes (mentioned by a previous reviewer) is Steve Pryor, the "best guitarist you'll never hear". He is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and has an impressive list of accomplishments including his own CD's. Apparently there's no soundtrack CD from this movie available. Too bad. Also, there are several good shots of the keyboard player, David Busey.

...but still good to watch. It's consistently funny and has a reasonable plot but you get the feeling it should have been better. Maybe it's too late to save the series with another movie but it would be great to see Richard Dreyfuss on the big screen again, he really is an under-appreciated and underrated actor.

The main problem with Another Stakeout is that it just isn't as strong as the first film. Sure it was funny and had childish humor but Stakeout had a hard edge that this sequel just doesn't equal. The dropping of the R-rating for a PG-13 might have made economic sense but it betrays fans of the original.

Second is all Another Stakeout has going for it is the endless arguing and fast-talking banter between the 3 characters. There's no perfect mix of smart-mouthing and action. In fact, the ... Read More

Don't listen to the naysayer's and haters out there; `Soapdish' is hysterical from start to finish. Yes, this is a golden comedy that works so often you forgive its small faults and minor missteps for the big picture is perfectly satisfying.

Okay, so, let's get down to it. The film tells the story of Celeste Talbert, a huge star on a Soap Opera that has seriously been running for years. Her co-star Montana Moorehead is dying for a larger role, so much so that she would de anything to get Celeste off the show. This would include tempting the shows producer David Seton Barnes with her goodies (um, goodies?). When Talbert's niece winds up as an extra on the show things look like they are always falling in Celeste's favor, but when the show rewrites in her ex-lover Jeffery Anderson everything starts to unravel.
