while not his best tommy lee jones is good as a nam vet who takes over for his dead friend and takes over central park to highlight how wrong vets are being done. the set up and the taking of the park are all handled very well and the story holds up very well when it could have easyly fallen apart. this was first made for hbo in the 80's and really needs to be on dvd.

In the town of Valentines Bluff, the towns people are trying to move on and forget about their dark secret. A killer use to reappear on Valentines Day to kill the people who try to celebrate the day by throwing a party. 20 years have passed and the murders have begun again. The towns mayor begins to panic when he gets a valentine box of chocolates packed with a real bleeding heart instead.

My Bloody Valentine debut in 1981 when the slasher was beginning to gain some momentum. And even then, this movie had the fingerprints of several that came before it. Despite this, it really isn't that bad and is a pretty decent slasher.

The kills could have been alot better even for its time. Films like The Prowler which came out the same year proved you can push the envelope alot. ... Read More

VHS : Twists of Terror
TWISTS OF TERROR is an import from Montreal TV and its quite good for one of those anthology horror movies. The first tale, "The People You Meet" brings us Jennifer Rubin and Carl Marotte as a couple on their second honeymoon, who are forced off the road by a speeding sportscar. They get a lift from a doofus who you can tell is not what he seems. They pick up another hiker (who just happens to be a friend of doofus) and they kidnap Marotte and Rubin and take them to an abandoned cabin. The twist in this one isn't obvious, but its results are. Nice little tale. The second tale, "The Clinic" is a little less effective and drawn out. You can pretty much figure out what's going on once Nick Mancuso goes into this out of the way clinic. Mancuso does an okay job, but it's too predictable to have a ... Read More

VHS : Who Gets the House? [Theatrical Release]
From Feature Films for Families, a wholesome family entertainment company promoted by James Dobson, Billy Graham, Dr. Laura, and others. This is a "live action" movie (not a cartoon) about four children stuck in the middle of a divorce. Sounds grim, but it's really not...a good drama with some comedy added in.

Comes with a parents discussion guide which gets to the heart of the matter: what are family values? are there communication techniques that can break down barriers causing misunderstandings? we can't choose our family, but can we choose our friends? and more...

A good, solid, entertaining movie that has a strong moral to the story.
