VHS : Cool As Ice
Seriously though...

Vanilla Ice has the acting skills of a piece of driftwood.

Oh man, this movie is terrible. It's so terrible that I found myself cracking up the majority of the time. It's so mind-numbingly bad that I actually kinda liked watching it. But I just couldn't bring myself to give this crapfest a four or five star rating, no matter how many times I laughed at it. It's basically Vanilla Ice trying to be a neon-clad James Dean with fantastic pickup lines such as, "Drop that zero and get with a hero." Do I really need to say anything about that one? Didn't think so.

My favorite scene of the movie would probably be the one where he magically jumps his motorcycle over a fence without a ramp. Who needs physics? Not Ice.

Another rumination on the importance of and difficulties in communicating with the people who are closest to you. For which CB radio was the perfect medium in the 1970s. Paul Lemat is earnest to the point of being irritating. Candy Clark is pile of confusion and lust. You have to love them.

If you're one of those people who loved the Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer movies then you will probably think that Cherry Falls is a great film. I think that it was very good. Not great, but very good.

Cherry Falls has all the ingredients that successful teen slasher movies have exploited to draw audiences: Dark humor, gory tense murder scenes, and an attractive young cast just ready for the butchering. There is a difference with Cherry Falls however. In most teen slasher movies the teens most preyed upon are the ... Read More

If you loved Welcome Back Kotter, you'll love this! Gabe Kaplan and his friends are on a quest to get reimbursed for damage to his car from a pothole. Each with a mental illness (none of which is portrayed distastefully), they come up with a brilliantly far-fetched plan to get what they want. This is a really good movie!

I have to admit that I didn't like this film the first time I watched it as I didn't really appreciate the documentary style layout and it seemed a little slow to develop. Now that I've seen it again after a few years, I've actually come to like this a lot as I realise that this is a very unique film with a very good storyline and good acting as well as it describes the lives of High School graduates/dropouts and their very real sense of loss having to leave the safe/secure comfort zone of school to face the real world with all its uncertainty and callousness.

One character actually manages to take the leap albeit with great reluctance and after great difficulty soul-searching while another doesn't quite make it at least yet. I can actually see myself returning to this film again in the future as I get the ... Read More

This is one of the very best modern movies. Though it is a good deal more serious, it is certainly on par with such movies as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Punch-Drunk Love. The one problem I have is that IT HASN'T BEEN RELEASED ON DVD YET. How the suits could pass over such a stupendous work of art is beyond me, though not surprising. This movie will help you understand a certain illness better than you ever have (or even possibly ever could), and it will break your heart with its frank portrayal of a doomed and short-lived love affair. A movie you couldn't possibly forget, this will make your life deeper. Now we just NEED IT ON DVD!

8.Amityville 3-D starring: Tony Roberts, Tess Harper, Robert Joy, Candy Clark, John Beal
directed by: Richard Fleischer
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Amityville 3-D
This film often resembles Tobe Hooper's "Poltergeist". That movie preceded this one by a year or so, so the "Amityville" filmmakers could have been plagiarizing to a degree. However, Amityville 3-D, despite its flaws, still has enough fuel to forge ahead given that the Amityville story continues to astound the motion picture public.

This movie is mostly noteworthy for the mere fact that it features Meg Ryan in one of her earliest film roles. Otherwise, you have to go beyond the director's cheesy attempts to startle an 80's 3-D viewing public. (The DVD of the film is 3-D in title alone.) It has a few surprises, so it's worth watching if you have a free afternoon. Otherwise, this is largely considered the first in a long line of unnecessary sequels to the Amityville franchise.

9.Q the Winged Serpent starring: David Carradine, Michael Moriarty, Candy Clark, Richard Roundtree, James Dixon

VHS : Q the Winged Serpent

Probably Larry Cohen's best movie (Return to Salem's Lot and Black Caesar were also quality Cohen works).

"Q" is different enough to hold up well to repeat viewings over the years. Michael Moriarity is great and the overall cast just seem to "click" together so well.

"Q" consistently overcomes its typical for Cohen low budget and holds your attention. A very young Bruce Willis was almost cast in "Q". Should have been a big hit in 1982. Get the DVD version with all the interesting extras.

10.Johnny Belinda (1982 TV movie) starring: Richard Thomas, Rosanna Arquette, Dennis Quaid, Candy Clark, Roberts Blossom

VHS : Johnny Belinda (1982 TV movie)
This better than average made-for-television remake of the 1948 classic "Johnny Belinda" may disappoint fans of that version, but it more than makes up for the storyline differences by the sincere performances of its leads -- Rosanna Arquette (as 'Belinda McAdam') and Richard Thomas (as 'William Richmond').

Thomas plays "William 'Bill' Richmond" a VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) worker who comes to Hatcher to teach about nutrition and public health to the poverty stricken rural community and to help set up an agricultural cooperative. He works in tandem with 'Julie Sayles' (Candy Clark), a local public nurse, and slowly becomes acquainted with the taciturn residents. While attempting to set up a communal garden, and after a near-miss he becomes aware of a silent, mute, disheveled girl by the name of Belinda.
