VHS : Double Edge (American Dragons)
If you like cop movies with tons of action, this one is for you! The story line is interesting and the acting is very convincing. I definately agree that this movie is a showcase for Michael Biehn - he's at his best in every sense of the word.

VHS : Red Corner
I'm sometimes taken aback when conservative commentators (like Laura Ingraham) pose rhetorical questions like: Why doesn't Hollywood make as many anti-Communist films as it does anti-Nazi ones? She literally asked why if there was a Schindler's list, why there no STALIN'S LIST. Now, while it may be true that many Hollywood denizens are politically a bit left of center, is it really the case that, unbeknownst to us in the unsuspecting public, they've been glorifying Communist ideals and furthering its cause almost two decades after the fall of the Soviet Union?

I suppose if you were to cite RED CORNER as a film which takes on the last remaining Communist superpower, Ms Ingraham and her fellow rightwing pundits would respond that a. it's a rare exception; b. the only reason, these ... Read More

VHS : Street Fighter
Hardcore streetfighter this is a joke . This is the first six button fighter game to grace the arcade. This game paved the way for games like Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat,Dead or Alive, and Tekken and many other 2-D game fighters. This movie is a insult to the franchise. If you want the true origin of this movie get the animated version of the movie this is garbage for real.

VHS : Possessed by the Night
Not Igmar . . . but Sandahl . . .Bergman - in her best and most revealing footage - with delightful help from 80's Playmate Shannon Tweed - make this otherwise inept film worth watching for afficianados of the eternal feminine. I fast-fowarded it through the boring parts. But it proves once again - that cheap B films with beautiful ladies still vaguely in their prime and desperate for a few bucks make the night go easier and evoke a wierd sort of fascination and thus value. In the end, much in the Shakespearean tragic tradition, all the characters kill off each other in one big blow-out scene, which would make perfect sense if any one of these aspiring thesbians had more than the barest claim to a shread of acting ability to cover their bare bodies, or bodkins, or bald ignorance, most of which is in full ... VHS : Belly of the Beast (Dol)
I give Steven Seagal and director Siu-Tung Ching ("A Chinese Ghost Story") a lot of credit for this film: after so many lacklustre action-thrillers with delusions of seriousness starring the martial arts master, the mindset of "Belly of the Beast" is one of "forget the storyline - bring on the action!". Believe it, this is a wonderfully refreshing change of focus for the DTV-mired Seagal, whose face has yet to see the silver screen again.

In "Beast", Seagal is an ex-CIA operative whose daughter is kidnapped while vacationing in Thailand by a violent rebel organization. Seagal saddles up to rescue her after employing his agent-turned-monk ex-partner (Byron Mann, "Street Fighter"), and the two of them embark against insurmountable political and spiritual odds.
Mind you, these "political ... Read More

VHS : Invincible
I feel duped into this movie. For some reason I heard "martial arts" and "invincible" and thought this might actually be a great martial arts movie... Ooh, god did I regret this one.

Being on a martial arts kick lately, I've seen such great movies as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Curse of the Golden Flower, Forbidden Kingdom, Hero, Iron Monkey, etc. I don't know why I thought this might be able to join those other movies in terms of style, art direction or substance.

This is made-for-TV nonsense, pure and simple. Might be right for some, but definitely NOT my cup of tea.

The dialogue is utterly inane in parts. The lead character seems to not give much of a darn about what's going on in the movie. I mean, at one point he ends up giving a "serious" monologue while riding ... Read More
