VHS : Separate But Equal
I use this in my classroom high school classroom. It shows the need and history for the civil rights legislation, but also gives tremendous insight into the workings of the Supreme Court. There is very little profanity, so it is classroom appropriate.

VHS : Executive Action
I saw 'Executive Action' when it first came out in 1973, and it has stuck with me all these years. It was gone from the theaters pretty fast, and I thought maybe it was "pulled" because of the truth it revealed. So when I stumbled upon it at Amazon, I almost jumped out of my chair.
The part that really stayed with me is at the end when words scroll up listing the odds put out by Lloyd's of London. It's like a trillion to one that all the real people involved in the murder of JFK would meet untimely deaths. It's shocking and something you have to see for yourself.
EA was lost, but now it's found!! Thank you, Amazon. I just purchased it and it will go into my JFK collection..safe and sound.

VHS : A Child Is Waiting
"A Child Is Waiting" is one of the very best Judy Garland films. It is an affirming story with powerful performances and a well-rounded script that doesn't preach or go off in the deep yonder like so many films during this time period are known to do. Perhaps the reason why the film is so unappreciated and subsequently unknown is because Judy doesn't sing and dance and isn't glamorous.

Instead Miss Garland plays against type as the female lead Jean Hansen, brought on board to be a teaching assistant in a school for develop mentally delayed children. Judy has such a powerful presence in each and every one of her scenes because she is absolute and this viewer can tell that she wholeheartedly believed in the cause and the plight of these children.

VHS : Trapeze
Love triangle with Burt Lancaster who was injured trying to be one of the first guys to do a triple flip on the trapeze.

Tony Curtis, young gun, looks Burt up to train him to do the triple. Burt gets off the ground, and becomes Tony's "catcher'. Enter va-va-VOOM Gina Lollbrigida who is the "icing" in a mediocre tumbling act.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE! It's completely over the "BIG TOP", and the 3 gorgeous leads in their absolute prime look super in leotards, spangles, gitain fishing shirts and berets.

I wish ithis movie would be reissued so it was not so expensive to find one! It's not available on Netflix either.

VHS : Devil's Disciple (1959)
This is one of my favorite movies. Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas are in thier prime, both sexy and studley. If they really had ministers like Lancaster, I'd never miss church. The story, adapted from a play is a bit stagey, but it's very enjoyable. I liked the black and white photography as well. The best part of this picture is Lawrence Olivier as General Burgoyne. He is just so fantastic. He steals every scene he's in and the wordplay between him and Kirk Douglas is really entertaining.
Also the score is very good. It's a nice movie and I can remember seeing this in the movies with my grandmother when I was 8. It still brings back great memories.

A legendary shoot-out at the OK Corral is brought to life in one of the great western films with 2 legendary stars. The beginning with the title song by Frankie Lane sets the tone for the story of a classic struggle of unmitigated evil against the not-so-clean good.
