VHS : Madame X (1966)
So many people seem to like this film - Madame X. I don't. I 've seen
it on television and am glad I never saw it in a theater in 1966.
The cast is excellent (Lana Turner, John Forsythe, Burgess Meredith,
Ricardo Montalban, Joan Whats-Her-Name)but the plot and the schmaltzy
dialogue plus the tear-jerking conclusion leave me laughing and that's it.
Why was this movie made ? And as late as 1966. This is a 1940'-50's film,
in my opinion, and outdated by the Sixties. But so many people seem to like
it. Sentimentality. Sob, sob, sob......You can have Madame X. This should have been made as a farce....

2.Puff the Magic Dragon starring: Burgess Meredith, Peter Yarrow

VHS : Santa Claus: Movie (1985)
There is a reason why "Santa Claus: The Movie" is entitled that way. It's because it was made by the same people who produced "Superman: The Movie." And that's not where the similarities between the two films end. In fact, "Santa Claus" has the same story outline as "Superman" because they were partly written by the same persons. Like "Superman," the first part of "Santa Claus" details the history of Santa- where he came from and how he became Santa. Also like "Superman," the second part of the film has the hero overcoming the nefarious schemes of an evil mastermind- in "Superman" it was Lex Luthor, who wanted to blow up the west coast, and in "Santa Claus" it was B.Z, the owner of B.Z. Toys, who wants to bury Santa as a competitor.

If the producers and writers of "Santa Claus" ... Read More

DO NOT get this for superlative acting or cinematic brilliance. It's just SO silly that it is priceless and highly enjoyable. The villains are a bit weak especially the Joker, but the Dynamic Duo are as camp and corny as ever. Could have been a little bit shorter. Otherwise classic silly entertainment - the shark and bomb scenes are so ridiculous they have to be seen to be believed. Hilarious!

VHS : National Geographic's Amazon: Land of the Flooded Forest
This video is a good intro into the life of the Amazon. I enjoyed how it balances the strangeness appeal of different creatures in the jungle with the scientific rigour to explain the terrain and the different environments animals and plants face throughout the year (rainy flooded season, dry season, etc.)

I strongly recommend this video for someone planning to visit the Amazon for the first time, just to have an idea of what to expect and to better be able to understand the explanations guides may give during a trip.

VHS : In Harm's Way
A classic match up of John Wayne, Kirk Douglas with a five star supporting cast. This, and the action a suspence of the early days of World War Two, make it unforgetable.

VHS : There Was a Crooked Man
On one of the discussion boards was a question about the pretty schoolteacher being carried along with the rioting mob, losing another piece of attire every time seen (yelling "warden," asking for help) for part of the riot sequence and then disappearing. And mention of seeing a still picture where she wore a hat, boots and a smile while running through the desert. Question was about the editing.
An acquaintance saw the sneak preview of the picture in Long Beach while it was still being edited and mentioned that the striptease continued until she was chased into the desert through the hole dynamited in the prison wall.
Should there ever be a DVD released with this "deleted scene," you let us all know, you all. (But after forty or fifty years, doubtful.)

VHS : National Geographic's In the Shadow of Vesuvius
This is one of my family's favorite videos. Kids as young as 5 are engrossed in the footage of Vesuvius and the remains of the city of Pompeii. My son's first grade teacher has requested this video to share with all the first graders in their study of Ancieng Greece & Rome

Wow!! To tell you the truth, this is one of my all time favorites! I am a cult movie fanatic. I was elated to find Clash of The Titans available for sale, I bought it instaneously! I counted the days until it arrived and I immediately popped it into my sponge bob DVD player to give it a whirl, I was taken back thirty years ago to the days when creating special effects was something people actually had to think hard about to create. I love this flick, especially when they release the Cracken!!! Timeless
