VHS : Nobody's Fool (1994)
This is a gentle, small movie about small-town living and its citizens, particularly a blatantly unapologetic ne'er-do-well named Sully (Paul Newman) who has lived his life exactly as he wants to and manages, by optimism and the bonding in this town, to survive quite well in spite of himself.

Sully has co-existed with his former eighth-grade teacher for apparent decades (the great Jessica Tandy, in her next-to-last performance), living in an upstairs apartment and doing - when he remembers to - odd jobs for her as well as keeping an eye on her. He is constantly at odds with her stuffy bank-manager son (Josef Sommer) who wants Sully out of his mother's house; Sully is also at mild odds with several other people in town, including his ex-wife, and an uncredited performance by Bruce ... This movie is really great! Bruce Willis is great and so are all the other actors. It reinforces the idea that you can't choose your family but in the end they will always be there for you. Even thought someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. Watch it, it's great!!

VHS : Support Your Local Sheriff
By 1969, revolution was in the air in the United States. All kinds of institutions were under question or attack. So it was a perfect time for the funniest spoof ever of the heroic Western. James Garner stars in "Support Your Local Sheriff" as Jason McCullough, who rides into the frontier town of Calendar. Calendar was a sleepy little outpost until the discovery of gold a short time before McCullough's arrival. Then all h--- broke loose. He's soon persuaded to take up the sheriff's badge, which is vacant (and dented) since all the previous sheriffs have been killed or fled. He insists he's really on his way to Australia, but doesn't seem to be in any real hurry to get there. Garner's charm, timing and delivery, as ever, are magnificent, and he's surrounded by a first-rate supporting cast.

VHS : Look Who's Talking
Most people give PULP FICTION the title of John Travolta's comeback. During the early to mid 80's, John Travolta was less than an A-List celebrity. The movie LOOK WHO'S TALKING was his comeback to the spotlight. This movie catapulted him back to bigger and better things. He went on to do blockbuster films like PULP FICTION, GET SHORTY, BE COOL, among others.

About the movie, it spawned 2 sequels that were great also. And Bruce Willis's delivery was flawless. I can't imagine Mikey sounding any other way. The opening scene of the movie, along with the music, sets the tone for the rest of this raucous comedy. I loved it then and I love it now. Contemporary comedy classic in my opinion.

I wanted to get this DVD cause I liked the show but when I noticed that the pilot by itself is more than the whole Season 1 I said forget it. Some idiots on here are asking $41 for it new that is so crazy high I'm not even gonna comment on it. I want to get just this episode for myself but its gonna have to come WAY down in price. Under $10 at least.

People love to dump on this movie...namely for the unrealistic plot and action. The first time I saw this it was in the theater and I felt like everyone else...I was dissapointed and it just felt like a big letdown.

However, this movie has grown on me like no tomorrow. Forget the plot and how its totally unrealistic. This movie has some of the best and funniest dialogue. It you watch the Gag Reel on the Criterion edition you'll see how much fun the actors had making this. The dialogue in this movie is funnier than most comedies out there, you just have to ignore the plot and pay attention to it. The humor is very dry and the characters all gel really well together. Its the little lines that make this movie..like when Bruce Willis is having an argument with his daughter, and to distract the Japanese ... Read More

There is not a lot of negative that can be said about this movie. I saw it in the dollar theatre in early 2000 and was totally taken away by it. The tone, score, screen play, and acting are all supurb.

The only bad thing is that M. Night Shyamalan set the bar so high with his first major film, that every movie he has made since has suffered by comparison.

The DVD has some really great special features, the best of which are the deleted scenes, where Night explains his reasoning behind each cut that he made during editing.

Over all, an outstanding movie and a great DVD.
