I liked this movie as much now as I did when I originally watched it. I purchased it to watch with my daughter and she too enjoyed it. I think that Harrison Ford did an excellent job.

It's just a great movie with lots of star power. Who couldn't love Al Pacino as Roma, Alec Baldwin as the sales "motivator" & Jack Lemmon as the has-been? Ed Harris as the wanna-be, Kevin Spacey as the Sales Manager & Alan Arkin as the simple guy just trying to make a buck also do wonderful jobs here. If you are in sales or more likely, if you are a sales wanna-be, you'll love this movie. If you're looking for something to make you feel content find a cartoon movie with some woodland animals in it. You won't find any warm fuzzies here, but you will find wonderful examples of playwriting & acting.

I purchased this DVD after re-viewing it on a TV where I work out. This film was essentially unknown to the kids I showed it to (5th graders)since they hadn't been born yet. It was an enjoyable film with lots of humor, and the kids really liked it.

VHS : L.I.E. (Unrated Edition)
This film tackles a subject seldom seen on the big screen, and it pulls it off with class. Brian Cox boldly takes on the role of Big John Harrigan, a retired Marine and Vietnam vet, who just happens to have a love for teenage boys. Before seeing this movie I expected the character of Big John to be nothing less than a monster. I was pleasantly surprised. Big John shows us just how human a monster can be. After hunting down unlikely thief Howie Blitzer to the tune of "The Hurdy Gurdy Man," Big John takes the needy and curious teen under his wing. The unusual duo stumble through an awkward relationship providing each other with friendship, a muse, and emotional support. Never crude or blatant for the sake of being shocking, L.I.E. creates a plausible story that doesn't need to rely on graphic material ... Read More

I'm not going to lie to you, the acting is pretty bad. The 'scene' accuracy is also very very low. For a subculture that had a unique style of dress, Christina Applegate looks as though she just came from a Pearl Jam concert. The music in the film that isn't from any real/legitimate artist of the day sounds the same as the car chase scene music in an old episode of Hunter.

Why should you see this movie? Its so bad that its good. Infact its a personal favourite and thats why I have it 4 stars. Its definately worth checking out to see appearances by classic rave/techno acts FIERCE RULING DIVA and U96.

Sadly, the US edition of the film does not include the performance by the UTAH SAINTS. It was cut from the original VHS release and I expected it to show up on the DVD. I dont know ... Read More

The thing that is most striking about this movie (other than the white water sequences) is how Mr. Goodguy can so turn on a dime and be such a slimey, self-serving, non-sympathetic figure in this movie. While he is like this throughout the movie, bullying his workers to go on this dangerous trip even one who feared for his life but needed his job more, his personae truly comes alive when the widow of one of these men comes to see him and he offers her some amazingly good cheescake....I loved seeing him like this -what an an incredible job of acting. This has to be a universal concept that happens in job situations throughout the world - "You do this or it's your job".....The action scenes are well filmed and acted and an exciting movie all-around. Peter Gallagher is good as the person who tries to do the right thing, Robert ... Read More

The Hand DVD

It features a riveting performance by Michael Caine, a cartoonist, who, after losing his drawing hand in an auto accident caused by his wife who is "separating from him", spirals down into a psychological abyss from which he cannot escape. Oliver Stone's screenplay and direction is well-paced and crisp. The ending is unforeseen and shocking.

Highly recommended for fans of Michael Caine and psycho thrillers
