VHS : Brain Smasher - A Love Story
I wish this movie was on DVD! I don't own a VHS player and have been dying to see this again. I used to watch this movie all the time when I was about 12 years old. It was such a fun, comical, entertaining little cheese-fest. I loved it! I hope it gets released sometime on dvd or bluray for those of us who have ditched vhs!!!

VHS : Enemy Mine
Being in a mood for science fiction, I settled in to watch Enemy Mine as it opened with a good old-fashioned space battle, never imagining I would be moved to tears more than once before this most unexpectedly heart-touching film came to an end. I don't think I've shed a science-fiction related tear since E.T., but Enemy Mine is just an indescribably beautiful and moving film. Heck, I think I even like Dennis Quaid now, but Lou Gossett, Jr., turned in an even more remarkable performance than Quaid. The man should have been nominated for an Oscar, in my opinion.

As I alluded to already, this futuristic film opens in a time of war. Humans may have achieved peace on earth by 2092, but their competition with the reptilian Drac race over colonization of a certain galaxy has erupted ... Read More

VHS : The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez
This VHS production of The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez is a great film about the tragic story behind the flawed pursuit of a man made worse by cultural and lanuguage barriers. This film reveals a lot about the prevailing attitudes of the time (early 1900s) and how they contributed to an imperfect system of justice.

VHS : Southern Comfort
A film that was clearly inspired by Deliverance, but that quite easily merits viewing in its own right. If you replace adventurers with National Guardsmen you do have almost the same film. However don't let that put you off because this is very well done and probably has more of a brooding sense of menace to it than Deliverance does. The cast are are all good and director Walter Hill perhaps peaked with this film.

The story is slight, but effective, some National Guardsmen upset the locals whilst out on an exercise. The locals aren't happy and seek to punish the soldiers in various horrible ways. When you see this unfold you will begin to see that maybe this film was an influence on the first Rambo film and even perhaps Predator.

Again in another parallel to Deliverance this ... Read More

A futuristic film where these scientists are working for a corporation and have developed something called a nano-engine which constructs new cells from old ones. They've been practicing on animals only so far but intend to take the tests further.

The main character, Buck who acts in pain well is trying to resist getting caught up with the greed for money syndrome like his bosses have been. He's in conflict with a trashy female reporter who wants to get the dirt on his project and his girlfriend who doesn't trust him not to stray under the reporter's sleazy come-ons.

A psycho joins the film, carjacking Buck, and making him run errands because he wants to show the world that big corporations forget about the individuals they could hurt when it costs them money. He does this ... Read More
