Mia Sara's car breaks down on a lonely, isolated road. Friendly mechanic Burt Reynolds takes her and her young daughtet back to his home where things turn creepy. Reynolds' wife Angie dickinson is nuts and locks them up in a boarded up bedroom. It soon becomes apparent that Reynolds is just as crazy and will do anything and kill anyone that comes between his wife and her happiness. Well acted all round with Reynolds in particular giving a great menacing performance. Loosely based on the Andrew Nierderman novel "Play Mates". Filmed in 1994 but only released on video in 1996, it is well worth tracking down.

Beyond the nagging technical details there was the matter of accents. Loch Ness is in Scotland, NOT Ireland. For some reason the girls in the pub spoke with fine Irish accents (Kilkenny I think)...The constable also sounded more Irish that Scots, though I couldn't place the dialect. Am I the only one who thought this was odd? The other "Scottish" accents are abysmal as well, even worse than James Doohan's Scotty! Terrible acting, awful script, pathetic CGI (was it even cgi or Crayolas?) All in all this film comes right up to the fine standards we have come to expect from the Sci Fi Channel.

The only directoral attempt by Cassian Elwes, this is a numbingly incoherent story that Elwes states he wrote during four days in hospital while sedated with opiates following surgery, and it must be noted that a drug-induced fog, indeed, seems to permeate the proceedings. As much as can be determined, the story is set in a future wherein a pair of anthropomorphic felons is imprisoned in a condition of suspended animation from which they escape, attracting energetic pursuit from a former policeman who knows that they kidnapped his young daughter, therewith causing his marital failure, all of which is included within a screenplay bare of intelligibility, dealing principally with the capability of the villains, named Fire and Rain, to enter human psyches at will.
