This is one of the best, if not the best videos that the late, great Jim Henson produced prior to his untimely death. I resell a lot of the children's videos that I purchase on line, at private sales and from my own distributors, and this one literally flys off my auction site as soon as I list one. This is an out of print video, so its not very easy to find copies of same.Of course, as with most of Henson's videos, violence is not present, the majority of his videos are all feel good ones and they are absolutely great for the young children.

This would be a wonderful addition to a Christmas movie collection that I wish they would release on DVD as well as re-releasing The Muppet Family Christmas. I am not willing to pay $[...] for the out of print dvd but I would love to have it. This title has never been released on DVD and with all the crap that Disney puts out I'm appauled that they don't release something as charming and quality as this. Its classic Henson and will always have a place in my heart!

AWESOME collector for the generation who grew up with the Muppets, no doubt.... However, this movie may need to be carefully reviewed by parents before young children watch it. I was born in 1979, very young when The Dark Crystal was big. My mother watched EVERYTHING before she let me view any movie or TV show to understand the point that was trying to be made and whether she felt the subject matter was appropriate for me. (This is what parents SHOULD do). Instead of just thinking, 'Oh, Muppets... Jim Henson... Must be OK for her to watch,' she previewed it and was surprised by the angle of the film. OK - My kids loved Wizard of Oz so I picked this up for them. I have 10yr old boy/girl twins and a 4yr old boy. The boys LOVED it but my daughter HATED it! It is MUCH darker than the original movie, but follows the book much closer. I think my daughter was expecting the singing/dancing of the original movie. She was scared to death of The Wheelers and the whole head changing issue. The boys thought the whole movie was "cool" and not babyish. They liked that it was weird. My personal opinion of the movie? I have to go with my daughter on this one! Didn't like it a bit! I'd take the original Wizard of Oz hands down! Return to Oz is not for the scaredy cats by any means.
