Yes this is just a big soap opera, and most of the stories are just filler to set up the attack, but there is a strong feeling of a throw back to films of bygone days here that makes me like this even though i know it stinks. The attack last longer in this than it did in real life, and they keep leaping from it to some more soap opera filler that get very annoying after a while. The cast is ok but with all the corny line they have it's not really fair to say they are not good , they do what they can. I grew up in the 70's and these miniseries were a steady T.V. diet of the time,so some of my fondness for this mess is because it takes me back to younger days, and as such some will like it for that others will be less kind .

I general like Shakespeare to be done in the time it was written for. However, I enjoy anything that Leonardo DiCaprio or Clair Dane does and totally enjoy this film eventhough it has been brought up to date. I give it four stars only because of this.

Peter Strauss for a very short time after Rich Man, Poor Man was one of the coolest and most sought after actors of the time, especially for TV movies. If you don't remember the Movie of the Week the you never heard of this great flick, and Peter Strauss was awesome as a convict doing hard time that found his escape on the track.

I haven't seen this movie since it first aired, but I remember it as one of the better TV movies of all time. Great story, great performances. Just give us the damn DVD already! 5 Cleats

OK, release this on widescreen dvd NOW, PLEASE. I thought it would be so nice to see this little Tommy Lee Jones flick I so loved as a kid, let's go rent the dvd...No DVD. What a shame. For this is a well-made, quiet little father-daughter movie set on the Mississipp. Tommy Lee is fresh out of jail for a crime he may or may not have committed as a kid. He's quiet, he's depressed, he's withdrawn. He's beaten down. Martha Plimpton is his spunky little girl he never knew. She is being raised by her good-as-gold grandma because her trashy mom is a no good deadbeat living in Memphis. Martha is so in love with Tommy Lee. What little girl wouldn't be! Slowly but surely she brings him out of his shell and makes him want to live again. Wonderful scenes between Tommy Lee and Martha (who should have been ... Read More

I bought this video because i am a big fan of joanne woodward and like others have difficulty finding dvd's of her films. Anyway this film did not disapoint she and brian denehy turn in wonderful performances as the two middle-aged american strangers on a trip to the uk. This is a gentle story about two people getting to know one another faults and all and falling in love along the way, a very good film a recommend it.
