VHS : Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World
I think it goes without saying that you shouldn't expect historical accuracy out of Disney. This is a company built on talking mice and mermaids, so I didn't wasn't looking for a history lesson. That aside, this movie wasn't as horrible as most of the direct-to-video sequels. The songs weren't memorable, but they didn't grate on my nerves. And, while I'm no expert, I felt that the animation wasn't bad either. It wasn't on par with the first movie. But it wouldn't have been out of place on a Saturday morning cartoon.

My 3-year-old seemed to have mixed feelings about this one. She loved that Pocahontas danced in a ballgown, just like the other Disney princesses. But there were long stretches of the movie with no action that seemed to bore her.

Pocahontas herself seemed a ... Read More

I first saw this movie in the theaters as a teenager, I took my little brothers and sister to see it and it was so good we stayed in the theater for a second showing. My friends and I that watched it when it arrived were all laughing and enjoyed the movie immensly. Something this good never goes out of style.

VHS : Space Jam
Space Jam as a movie has always held a special place in my heart. Being 12 years old as of this review, I have to say this movie has aged really well. Starring a real comic legend in Bill Murray and an acting great, Danny DeVito doing a voice over; this movie was destined to succeed. The real surprise for everyone was the performance of Michael Jordan. Although not exactly Sidney Poitier he did his job of being the face of this movie and when you make a movie with basketball as the main focus, you couldn't not have Michael Jordan.

The story goes that aliens from a theme park world named Moron Mountain, need a new attraction. Whilst throwing around ideas the evil boss, Mr. Swackhammer decides that he must get the Looney Tunes. He sends his cronies to Looney Tune land and get the Looney Tunes; whether they ... Read More

VHS : The Powerpuff Girls - Meet The Beat-Alls
I'm not sure what to think about this. As far as animation goes, it's nothing to talk about at all. As far as the writing goes, it has its moments, and certainly the Beat-Alls episode was a high point in this collection. However, I really cannot figure out what exactly the target audience of the PPG is/are. Is it meant for nostalgic adults, or for teens, or pre-teens? I really can't figure it out. It seems altogether too violent for pre-teens, and the 60s/70s pop culture references make it a bit inaccessible for teens. So is it really just meant for nostalgic middle-agers? Anyhow, at about $5, its worth the price of entry, if only for the Beat-Alls.

VHS : See How They Grow: Sea Animals
Hi, I'm StoryMaker. Not too long ago we got See How They Grow: Sea Animals VHS from the library. It wasn't a hit, I must say. Both me and my mom found it very childish. Just listen to those animals' goofy voices ...definitely intended for youngsters. It seems like they are making it as least educational as possible. They even say hermit crabs are fish and I have no idea why! It's OK, but you'll probably find it pretty annoying if you are not very young. Overall, if you have a youngster interested in sea animals, then you could give it a try, but I think it would be better to check it out from the library than to own it. Signed, StoryMaker. "Gotta trust the kid's review!"
