I hate musicals. I love this movie. Everything is there. Great writing, great acting, great directing. I agree with my fellow reviewer who said this is a must-see every 4th of July.

VHS : To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything
To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar is a cute and funny film about three drag queens who want to be legends. Patrick Swayze is the prettiest man/woman ever! Wesley Snipes, well he isn't so graceful. This is a great buddy buddy flick, check it out sometime.

I really didn't think this was a nice adaption from the book. It was too short. But as far as the casting of the characters was concerned, that was very nice. I remember saying to myself while watching, "That is exactly what I thought Lucy should look like."

But then again, Saint Maybe is one of my very most favorite books, so of course I'm critical. It didn't really live up to my expectations

This movie is simple, but the cat and dog are great. I do resent the fact that I can't take it over to DVD, considering it is out of print.

VHS : Futureworld
Films buffs will want to know that the Spanish R2 'Mundo Futuro' DVD is missing footage. There are four cuts totaling 2.5 minutes of missing footage:

1. The pre-credit sequence is missing.
2. Some dialoge during the press invite, round table scene.
3. When Peter Fonda explores the remains of Westworld.
4. Dialogue at the very end.

Until a better version is released, your best bet is to pick up the R2 UK full frame edition which includes all of the above cuts.

VHS : Husbands & Wives
Husbands and Wives was released in 1992, and it is the last movie Woody Allen made with Mia Farrow--their unlucky thirteenth. It was released just in time to benefit from intense interest in the courtroom stand off between Woody and Mia over Woody's relationship with Mia's adopted daughter, Soon-Yi. Not to say that this was a calculated career move, but the film did better at the box office than any of his other films. It offered uncanny parallels into the real life drama, but it also differed in many respects. Still, it was weird how life imitated art, or vice versa.

As the opening credits roll, we hear a vintage recording of Cole Porter's "What Is This Thing Called Love?" The first scene shows Creative Writing Professor Gabe Roth (Woody Allen) watching a documentary on Einstein where the ... Read More

VHS : Lincoln (4pc)
***** I found this 4-series biography set to be ONE OF THE BEST BIOGRAPHIES I HAVE EVER SEEN. There was more information about Abraham Lincoln in these videos than the shorter, and less interesting, A&E or History Channel versions. The presentation was done very tastefully and thoroughly. The pictures and theme music seem historically accurate. Also, the voices of James Earl Jones and Jason Robards literally gave me the chills for their perfect portrayals and narration. Also, no one voices a better Mary Lincoln than the one-and-only Glenn Close. On a whole, the video was excellent. These videos even entertain children of all ages.

The downside is that this edition is no longer in production, and only available in VHS format. So, if you get your hands on a set of these videos, I'd suggest you hold tight.

I highly recommend, ... Read More
