collectible queen removed my money for this purchase over a month ago, but never sent my movie. I sent her an email the day after the last possible arrival date, and never got a reply. When I contacted amazon, I was told I had to wait even longer to file a claim. The email even implied that I was somehow at fault because I didn't look at her reviews. When I did, I saw that she has done this to several other people. I don't understand why amazon continues to allow her to rip off their customers. I will probably never order from amazon again.

VHS : The Man Who Came to Dinner
Way back, long ago, well not too long, but it seems long enough to me now at the age of 40, I was in the onstage play "The Man Who Came To Dinner" in highschool. I played the "glamorous actress", Lorraine Sheldon...quite a meaty part, indeed. We were a huge hit, and this is one of the many shows I've done that clearly sticks out in my mind as one of the most fun to do. The character was a wonderful opportunity for a rather shy around guys young woman to really stretch as an actress, and it gave me a lot more confidence as a young woman and a young actress as a result of my performance. I do miss the stage, and hope to go back someday. This is a wonderfully written script, and the movie is delightful...these kinds of movies simply are not made anymore, where you see true comedic genius ... Read More

VHS : In This Our Life
Director John Huston was known for having said that he let Bette Davis loose when he directed her performances. Here's a fine example. As Stanley Timberlake, a young Bette Davis is unleashed to royally throw tantrums of a very spoiled brat of a wealthy heir. Her sister, played by Olivia de Haviland usually takes the tormenting hits that Davis dishes out.

If a viewer believes Scarlet O'Hara (from "Gone with the Wind") was a spoiled Southern brat, Stanley Timberlake is the more modern day, more realistic version of that character. Davis' Stanley makes Leigh's Scarlet seem way less self-centered and as if she cared about several people other than herself. Stanely Timberlake doesn't give a hoot, frankly.

This motion picture gives an early glimpse of how great a character portrayal Davis is capable ... Read More

I caught the part where a young (no pun intended!)Robert Young
avenged his roomate's(Dick played by Tom Brown) tormenters, a few years ago. I bought the movie, watched the whole thing and I was not disappointed!! The three midshipmen meeting Skinny (played by Lionel Barrymore)and wins his admiration, is one event out of several, that I enjoyed.Truck (James Stewart)taking a risk to clear his father's name adds the family value to the movie. The scene at the Gates Christmas time is touching. Last but
definitly not least is Graves. At the Gate's estate and at the
football game. He is the true meaning of the term, gentleman's
gentleman!

VHS : Small Town Girl (1953)
When will MGM get their finger out and release "RICH YOUNG & PRETTY" and "SMALL TOWN GIRL" on DVD, after all this is the 21st century, we now have a better viewing medium than VHS tapes.

These would have to be two of the least known but best loved movies that came out of the '50's.

For those that havent yet seen these movies, beg borrow or steal them to see great dancing, fantastic singing, and so so acting, but are must have in any collection.
