This was a great movie to see in the theater, which is not a typical thing for me to say, and so it is even better in your own home (although the 61" telly helps), where you can pause it and get up to go to the loo. But it was every bit as amazing and moving and incredible to watch. And even though I knew the end of the film, I was still on the edge of my seat as the ship went to her watery grave. An amazing experience for all ages!

VHS : Evening Star
By the time Jack Nicholson shows up for about five minutes of screen time as Garrett Breedlove, this turgid 1996 sequel to 1983's Terms of Endearment has already slogged through two deaths, a psychotherapist with an Oedipal complex, and a lot of scrapbooks. The problems with this shamelessly manipulative movie are many, and they all begin with the inevitable premise that tough Texas matron Aurora Greenway can carry on without being challenged by her feisty daughter Emma. However, without Debra Winger's earthy grit counterbalancing Shirley MacLaine's flamboyant disapproval, the story seems to work in a vacuum. Much of the appeal and resonance of the first film came from how these characters dealt with life's unpredictable course and how James L. Brooks captured their idiosyncrasies with a refreshing ... Tombstone - The Director's Cut (Vista Series) As opposed to the DVD Tombstone which is a single DVD cased in a black box contianer, the "Director's Cut" provides us with a wonderful "Silhouette-Beige" Earthtone - Double-folding Jacket which contains two (2) DVD's. Wow! Next, this double-folding jacket slides into a TOMBSTONE color-portfolio box! The earthtone colors are simply amazing to view; I was so moved by the professional artistry that it took me almost an entire hour to cease reviewing its breath taking beauty.
Once inside the jacket, one discovers a continuing theme of this same earthtone artistry. Director George A. Cosmatos provides us with surprize after surprize and his cut answers one of the most lingering unanswered questions that the regular single DVD encased in black doesn't ... Read More

This movie is just superb. The story is great, acting is great, and the historical accuracy is perfect. I loved the attention to detail that went into this movie. Definitely a must see even if you're not a space or NASA buff.

VHS : Twister
Twister is one of my all-time favorite action movies and have watched it more times than I would like to admit. The best transfer on DVD still left alot to be desired. Now,the the transfer on Blu-Ray has been cleaned up and improved dramatically. It's not reference quality,of course, but I give the picture a solid 4 out of 5 for a movie of this age.I can't comment on the new lossless soundtrack because I am unable to decode yet.
Definitely highly recommended even if you have the latest DVD version.

A rare case of where we may have enjoyed this movie more than the original. At the very least, it's a remake worth watching compared to most Hollywood re-runs.

8.Fluke starring: Matthew Modine, Nancy Travis, Samuel L. Jackson, Eric Stoltz, Max Pomeranc

This movie is cute for my 8 year old but it's not really one she wants to watch over and over in our van for long trips. It has some sad parts and the story line is too heavy for my 2 year old to stay interested. It's very cute and enjoyable but is more a one time movie in our opinion. I'm still glad to own it.

Just one of those movies you watched growing up. And then want to buy when your older! Good movie about the early stages of geeks.

VHS : Mortuary (1983) (1991 VHS)

A movie with a mortuary, a cult group and Bill Paxton is always worth watching. In this early work Paxton plays a geek that works as an embalmer at the local morgue, he enjoys Mozart and enjoys Christie (his childhood crush) even more. If his morbid job wasn't enough, his father owns the mortuary and in his free time does cult meetings with chanting and dances. His mother committed suicide when Paul (Bill Paxton ) was still a young boy and consequently he started seeing a shrink (Christie's father). That's when he first met Christie and as time goes by he becomes more and more detached of reality, wanting to marry her at any cost. Greg Stevens, Christie's boyfriend will have something to say about that.

Okay so this isn't the greatest film in the world. It's not even the greatest horror film, but fans of Bill Paxton have got ... Read More
