VHS : Mandingo
This 5 star review is for Perry King only. He plays the nice slave owner in the film, a slave owner with a heart. Anyways I'm a huge fan of Perry ever since i saw him in Melrose Place & Switch. Of course all his films are not available since he starting acting in the 70's and i wanted to see his earlier works. I was shocked but the UNCUT version of the film was actually available on iTunes so i rented it. It's coming out on DVD this June 2008. I really didn't care for the film nor did i find it racy the way ever other review has it on here. Definitely check this out for a young Perry. It such a shame he isn't in more films. He has charisma and the X-FACTOR all the way. It truly isn't as racy as everyone says it is. It could have been much more racy but this is the 70's.

VHS : The Deliberate Stranger
PLOT: Mark Harmon as Ted Bundy~ he nailed this performance~ excellent portait of Ted the man with charm and looks enough to fool JUST about everyone~ very good detailed.

Ted Bundy was charming and was headed to law school. He loved women and women loved him~ his charm, wit, very empathetic and most of all handsome looks made him stand out~ but his superior IQ all gave him the means to vent his Psychopathic personality and be very successful at serial killing. The actual number is still (some believe over 100 in 6 or more states)... BUT in "this" version about 20 girls over many years (1974-1978) were succesfully killed by TED~ why his own friends believe him innocent~ Ted has the charm to have girl friends and be fairly nice to them~ they fall in love with his charm and looks~ ... VHS : Dragnet (1954)
I'm too young to remember the original Dragnet TV show butI well remember
it's 60's reincarnation. As a wise guy ever so hip teenager, Sgt. Friday, with his straight talking lectures to hippies and pot heads
seemed hilariously square. And yet I liked the show's simple format(which
became ridiculous on its spin-off Adam-12, when a radio call would invariably feature a close-up of the car radio speaker!) and the sometimes gitty realism. Watching the re-runs 30 years later, it seems
a real museum peice. Not so, the 50's version. The shows are like the
raw material you imagine other film makers using to create the film noirs so popular in the 40's and 50's. The crimes are mostly real police blotter stuff, day to day petty crimes, sad sack dead-end characters abound ... Read More

The reviewer below claims there is a region Free (o) dvd available on Amazonuk. Don't be fooled. It is still in the PAL format and will not play on American/Canadian DVD players. The VHS is the only way you'll see this film until someone releases it in this country. Region O in the Pal format still means it's a PAL dvd. Don't waste your money like I did. It must say Region FREE all regions!!! Don't believe everything you read here!!!!

I read Clavell's book of the same title. When the movie/series came out, I liked it. I didn't think it deserved to win an emmy, but it was interesting. On the other hand, the book was fantastic and enlightening.

I saw this when it first aired, and then again as a repeat on Lifetime or something. It's really quite good I thought. The actors for Chris Pritchard and James Upchurch were very intense I thought and did really well. Ed Asner is always fun to watch too... anyway its a great movie. And for some clarification because none of the other reviews mentioned it... yes this is the one where the kids get all whacked out on drugs, alcohol, and D&D to go off one of the kids parents. It's portrayed well in this film... its just sad that its true.

A very good TV mini-series in three episodes. It shows how three promising (or at least two) high school students are led into some criminal action and subsequent cover-up by the less promising one of the three. They will all become famous. One after a football accident will regenerate as an actor. One will follow his plan and become a very famous reporter and journalist. The less promising one will end up making money in some illegal way, spending some time in prison and discovering that preaching is a good career. They will finally confront one another and face the past crime. It will lead to a catastrophe and also to revelation and « justice ». The series shows very well that the motivations of people to become famous, rich, powerful can be very different, and the roads to that fame, power or wealth very ... Read More

VHS : Dream Lover (1986)
This Alan J Pakula directed attempt at horror is probably best known as the film that sunk Kristy McNichol's film career. Perhaps McNichol was swayed to take the advice of Pakula after his previous title led Meryl Streep to a Best Actress Oscar, but his idea of extending McNichol's acting range reads more as a total misappreciation of her appeal. The list of inexplicables begin with making McNichol practically mute as a flutist with a controlling father. Her victim pose earns her an assault after she disobeys daddy, and then recurring nightmares triggered by the trauma. This leads her to Ben Masters and a sleep research centre, who teaches her recounting procedures to control her dreams. McNichol has the kind of dreams I've never had - where she can see herself - and about the laugh in the entire film (apart from ... Read More
