VHS : Night of the Hunter (1955)
Interesting, and somewhat engaging, but odd. Robert Mitchum's performance is over-the-top, the other performances are lackluster, except for the character of the older woman who takes the children in. Mitchum's role especially presages Robert De Niro in the reamke of Cape Fear.

This is a chance to see Red doing dramitic acting as well as some great comedy gags. There are some great skits as acted by his character doing on stage performances during the movie. I first saw this on television many years ago, then again by renting videos. I am thrilled to be able to have my own copy now on VHS.

VHS : Texas
Texas was directed by George Marshall & starred William Holden & Glenn Ford. It was only Holden's ninth movie & Ford's eleventh movie & they don't look old enough to have already made that many appearances. Texas is a lighthearted movie which George Marshall was pretty good at doing. It's an old style western which may not please everyone.

Holden & Ford are two ex-confederate soldiers that are going to Texas. They witness a stagecoach holdup but don't intervene. They track down the robbers & rob them of the money. Through a misunderstanding they are accused of the holdup. They separate in the ensuing chase vowing to meet up again in Texas.

One of the film's funnier segments is when Holden goes into the boxing ring to earn some money for the two broke friends. ... Read More

When I got the tape it was in perfect condition. It also came with a bag of popcorn for the entertainment! I was very happy with my purchase since this was a movie that my sisters and I saw a long time ago and from the heavens above(my dad) we were able to come up with the name of the movie. Thanks

Keeping it short and simple- this was the one of the better Noirs. Charles McCraw is great as the cop trying to protect a lady on a train from one destination to another, but is he protecting the right woman? What I like about it for one thing is it a short movie running at fast paced 72 minutes, but the story and action is pretty tense and non-stop all the way through. Great dialog too, I couldn't help by laugh at times. Thoroughly entertaining with all sorts of twists and turns of characters., This had more twists than a pretzel. Between this movie, Clash by Night and Born to Kill, Warner's Film Noir Volume 3 from Warner is a must. This was the best Noir from Volume 3 to me. Just an amazing gem of a film
