VHS : Cry Wolf
I have seen most (if not all) of his movies. Errol has always been at the top of my list for free spirited actors. He was a rogue. His alcoholism did not help his acting any, but he managed to (in his younger years) be a fine actor with character and heart for the roll he was playing. The movie had a good plot but not enough (at least for me) interaction between him and Barbara. Because I am a very outspoken person, Barbara could have done a better job of standing her ground and confronting him, instead of sneaking around.

VHS : King Lear (1997)
King Lear directed by Richard Eyre was one play based on Shakespeare's King Lear. Richard Eyre tried to put more focus on the characters and what happened in the original play, rather than focusing on stage design. Many people's attention is pulled to the lack of props, because today's society has a lot of scenery and props in movies. Richard Eyre also tried to following the original play of King Lear, which he accomplished. The lines spoke by the actors are from the original play. The actors also look around the age the play suggested. King Lear played by Ian Holm was an older man that looked like a King who would have been ready to divide his kingdom. The daughters Goneril (Barbara Flynn), Regan (Amanda Redman), and Cordelia (Victoria Hamilton) also look around the ages that the original play ... Read More

VHS : Edward II
This movie was barely above atrocious. The movie is based on a play by Christopher Marlowe. The play, Edward II, is very good! This movie does not do it justice. It is very tacky and poorly made. The first thing a viewer is forced to watch is an unnecessary love scene between two men. The movie itself is not set in any one time period. It is confusing to try and figure out where the characters are, or when they are. The acting is terrible as well. It is more like a soap opera then a movie based on a great literary accomplishment.

VHS : Poirot - Death on the Nile
Every once in a while, an actor comes along who not only plays the role of Sherlock Holmes, but actually redefines the role. Well, this has now happened with Agatha Christie's detective, Hercule Poirot! In 1989, veteran actor David Suchet (b.1946) was tapped to play Poirot, and the rest, as they say, is history.

This DVD contains a classic Poirot murder mystery - Death On The Nile. When Linnet Ridgeway stole Jacqueline De Bellefort's fiancé, it seemed the perfect coup. But, when Jacqueline pursues Linnet and Simon on their honeymoon, Poirot realizes that the situation will lead to destruction. And, when Linnet Ridgeway is found dead in her stateroom, murdered, it is up to the famous Belgian detective to figure out who did it, and how. The obvious suspects have iron-clad alibis, but Poirot soon gets to the ... Read More

4 stars (why can't we change star ratings after putting the wrong one in?)

I still can't understand why more folks don't know about this flick, one of Bill's better moments. That he also co-directed etc makes it even more impressive. Anyone at all familiar with New York in the 80s will crack up at the Apple humor (this movie is a sly hate letter to NYC), but the plot and its twists are the real stars here, along with all three leads (though Quaid is so good at being annoying that he really becomes annoying!). It starts out fast and slows down, but its 90-minute length keeps it from getting boring. Funny, suspenseful, smart and unique, with a great ending, Quick Change deserves more respect.

9.Wake Island starring: Brian Donlevy, Robert Preston, Macdonald Carey, William Bendix, Albert Dekker
directed by: John Farrow
April 23, 1992
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Wake Island
"Wake Island" is a movie shot right after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and Wake Island. The movie, therefore, has to be taken in the context of the times - creating great anger against inferior Japanese forces and raising up the temperature of American audiences for the coming fight for freedom. You get some great actors of their time in the film - Brian Donlevy, Robert Preston and the everyman William Bendix (always the Brooklyn guy in the army). Well worthwhile for the World War II junkie and historian.

VHS : Angel Cop: Collection
I remember watching this short anime series of 6 episodes when I was back in High School. Or maybe it was even middle school. Either way, I was very impressed when I saw this about 8 or 9 years ago. But I had already seen some of the greats as far as Anime goes. Street Fighter 2: The Animated Movie, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell, Devil Man, Evangelion. This was a great addition to those.
One thing I really love about ANGEL COP was the realism of it all. It's animated, yet, there's no over exageration with comedy like huge sweat dripping down a characters forhead. No ones face suddenly goes blank or changes. It's done in a realistic way along the lines of Crying Freeman, Street Fighter, Ghost in the Shell etc.
This is must have for any fan of SERIOUS animation. Meaning that it's adult and mature, but not at all pornographic. Just ... Read More
