I watched this movie with my 17 year old daughter. We both found it very touching and relevant even though it is dated. Irene Dunne is wonderful as the Mama.

VHS : Rhapsody (1954)
Glorious music and glorious robes for Liz Taylor. Butmy God what a trashy story - yes, of course the woman has to be selfless, of course she has no talent whatsoever. This is how girls were taught to be dummies....

VHS : Letter to Three Wives
I purchased this movie for my father who recalled to me that he had tried to find this movie here in Australia. I found it here on Amazon and purchased it for him. I watched this movie with some hesitation as I am not familiar with old black and white movies. This movie from 1949 kept my attention throughout with it's slick photography, direction, and plot. I was impressed with the cast and the acting. I would heartily recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a well scripted and acted movie. The remastering to DVD was excellent even on playback to high definition screen. Five stars from me. (Daniel Hume)

I can think of hundreds of reasons why I like this film, but most of all I simply enjoy it. Couple bones with some other reviews, though. First of all, Jason Alexander has a comfortable, charismatic presence in this movie just as he has in every other vehicle he's been in, from Pretty Woman to Seinfeld. Secondly, I guess I'm one of the few people to conclude that DVDs are ultimately better with NO SPECIAL FEATURES whatsoever. Nothing seems to detract from, denude or uncharm a movie more than vanity projects like director's commentaries or promotional featurettes (and everything else under the sun). After the overkill that was Lord of the Rings, I've simply had it. So I'm quite thankful for this packaging, and as you see, it thus comes with a great low price. Finally, though, I'm not that crazy ... Read More

VHS : Johnny Belinda (1948)
Johnny Belinda starring Jane Wyman is a gentle and important film. Wyman gave the performance of her career (she won the Oscar for best actress)she is so vulnerable and real as a mute who is raped and no one believes her. Parts of the film are dated and overblown but Johnny Belinda is still a good film, check it out sometime.

10.Frenzy starring: Michael Bates, John Boxer (II), Bernard Cribbins, Jon Finch, Barry Foster

Alfred Hitchcock - The Legend Begins (20 Movie Classics)
I saw FRENZY from my Dad's collection. Hitchcock has that rare ability to evoke the most devastating fear with a minimum of on-screen blood and violence. My Dad used to say of Hitchcock films, " It's not what you see, but what you don't see that is so frightening." Hitchcock delights in turning macabre scenes into black comedy. Such is the scene in which a corpse's stiff leg refuses to be neatly packed, intact with its body, into a sack of potatoes. Hitchcock is taking something attractive and making it repugnant by its content and, in a sinister way, rather funny. Hitchcock thoroughly enjoys having a go at the audience by solving the complicated plot in the last ten seconds.
