VHS : Scarlett (Special Collector's Editon)
Great book. Written in sense of "Gone with the Wind." Good character development. Really saw the growth of Scarlet, from self-centered child to caring young woman. Always had the feeling, unlike the film, that it was Scarlet and Rhett. Set in Irish history background.

VHS : Hercules (A Walt Disney Masterpiece)
Disney released its 35th full-length film in early 1997 and much like all Disney films be prepared for musical numbers to tell the story.....but they are done by Alan Menken....so it isn't all that bad. The plot is set early in the film: Hades wishes to over-throw Mt. Olympus and imprison the legendary gods that live atop the mystical mountain. So Hades summons the sisters of fate to predict the outcome - their forecast is anything but reassuring. A child will be born on Olympus that will defeat Hades' plot - if Hercules fights Hades will lose. So Hades sends his to loyal henchmen, Pain and Panic, to steal the baby from Zeus and feed him an elixir that will remove the young Hercules' godhood and allow Hades to kill the newborn. Well, in typical style, Pain and Panic, botch the assignment and Hercules ... Read More

As a child growing up in the 70's and 80's, I thoroughly enjoyed the Wonderful World of Disney that aired on Sunday nights. This film was one of those reasons why I enjoyed the series so much.

Child of Glass stars a young boy named Alexander who with his family move into a new house in Kentucky. While the rest of the family focuses on remodeling the home, young Alexander is exploring something else- the ghost of a young girl.

Upon further investigation, and visitations with the girl, he learns the name of the ghost, Inez. She pleads with Alexander to solve a riddle and find the "Child of Glass" which will bring closure to her life and will release her from being a ghost. She convinces Alexander to help her solve the riddle and he enlists his new friend Blossom to help him.

Based on a book by the same name by Bette Greene this is a good movie about a 13 year old Jewish girl growing up in a rural southern town during World War II, a town that has a prisioner of war camp for German POWs and the girl who is nmaed Patty comes from a dysfunctional home in which her fat slob father is an abusive drunk who hates her and is constantly beating her and her mother is an uncaring wimp who also doesn't care about her daughter yet they love and spoil Patty's little sister Sharon and the only love Patty receives is from the family's black housekeeper and than Patty meets an escaped German POW who it turns out was forced into the German Army and hated Hitler and she strikes up a friendship with him. This was an okay movie. It had a lot of weird scens in it which I guess made the movie interesting to watch. The only really bad part of the movie is that they really made john ritter out to be a real wuss. All and all it was an okay movie though. john and his sidekick james belushi embark on a really intersesting adventure to try and save the world before the aliens take it over and the only way to save it is with one glass of water, lol. At least watch it once so im not the only one writing a review

"You've seen these women --- disturbed, psychotic, miserable," Dr Robert Stack tells starlet nurses about the patients in Borderline, his controversial group therapy experiment. We can't agree that they're mentally ill, for these aren't Borderline Bad Actressess -- they're the Long Since Gone Over the Distant Horizon players.

MEET THE GALS: Finger-snappin' Sharon Hugueny coos, "Free like a daisy, a lazy daisy" and ex-hooker Janis Paige snarls, "Play it, kid: 'I was a Teenage Lunatic'"; mute Barbara Barrie demonstrates that no dialogue's required to fit in with this crowd; Ana St. CLair (whose screen credit reads, "courtesy of DeMedici Productions of Argentina") has a terminal case of Needing to Be Photographed Through Lots of Vaseline Over the Lens that when she's shot in closeup she's out of focus. ... I first saw this wonderful pastiche when it aired on PBS-TV in 1972. For the next several years, before it disappeared, I watched it as often as I could. I loved the freewheeling format with the six cast members, three black & three white, playing not only parts from Hansberry plays and remembrances but also the author herself, regardless of the actor's sex. Originally and lovingly compiled by Ms. Hansberry's ex-husband, Robert Nemirov, this TV version radiates with her love of theatre, words, socio-political action, and her compassionate, yet unsentimental, belief in her fellow human beings.

It's hard to single out any of the cast members since they are all so good - and it looked like they were having a ball working with each other on the TV adaptation! They need to be named, however: the ... Read More

Ok, this movie was cute. It was nice to see for a change that two people who really love each other could work things out and get back together. A wonderful movie to watch.
