VHS : They Only Kill Their Masters
The doberman's are the "gimmick" in an otherwise average movie. However they are an impressive gimmick. The trainers get the dogs to do some amazing things. There's "kind of" a plot and "kind of " some acting a few decent lines and Katherine Ross but the Dobies and their acting are the main course. Imagine a "Benji" movie for grown-ups. If you are interested in animal training or dobermans, you'll like this movie.

I was an extra in this movie, so I cannot give a truly unbiased review of it, but it was loads of fun to participate in. Arthur Hiller was a wonderful guy, and so were all the actors. It was like a big vaguely organized circus....in other words, a great experience...Looking forward to seeing my school friends on DVD again.

This is a program that I saw on Public Television back in the early 70's.
When I found out this was on DVD I couldn't wait to see it again. I have to say I was a bit dissapointed to notice that some scenes were altered from the original broadcast. Call me a purist, but I love to see things the way they were originaly broadcast.

This program originally had nudity, in particular Valerie Perrine's shower scene. In the original you can see her breasts, in this version you do not. There is a black bar that appeares on the bottom of the screen during the front shot of the shower scene, blocking out the nudity.(There is also another scene with her that is cut)

Now this is not that big a deal as far as the story goes, you can still enjoy the play, and it is a good one. I gave ... Read More

VHS : Breathless (1983)
It took me a second viewing to really appreciate this film. Since then I have watched it many times.

This is one of the rare movies where Richard Gere has an equally attractive co-star (Valerie Kaprisky). Intersection with Sharon Stone would be another example.

Richard and Valerie are hard to beat as pure eye candy. They apparently agreed, as word has it that they embarked on a tempestuous affair after this film. I believe she was only nineteen when the movie was made.

The eclectic soundtrack makes this film all the better. It includes rockabilly kings Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley to a hypnotic version of Phillip Glass' Openings to Message of Love by the Pretenders.

If you've ever had a bad boy pulling on your heartsrings at a tender age, you will ... Read More

I think this is a good comedy that shows how much of a joke cops can be.
It also shows that back in the 80's how goofy some of the movies were that were being released.
Over all I think this movie had a very basic story line, but it was funny.
I rate this movie a 8 from 1to10!!

VHS : Murder in Mind
Murder in Mind is quite a ride, but ultimately, it crashes. One can see why Ms. Parker was interested in the role(s). Like The Robber Bride, MiM provided Ms. Parker to play her characters from different perspectives. And I should add, she delivers as does Jimmy Smits. The first hour of the film works successfully in keeping the viewer off balanced and reevaluating. It's a wonderful ride until the last 20 minutes, where for this writer, the film turned into a sinister take on Shaw's Pygmalion. Interesting idea, but the story took such an over the top and preposterous road that it leaves one feeling disappointed, confused and a bit cheated. It was simply too much to swallow.

Ms. Parker does a fine job and resists overplaying it, as unfortunately her costar Nigel Hawthorne, failed to do in the end (I ... Read More

VHS : Malibu Express
Malibu Express is one of those "late night cable" movies from the 80's we watched as teenagers on HBO or Showtime and thankfully it survived to make it onto DVD! A funny and strangely entertaining flick with plenty of gratuitous nudity (what would a movie be without a nude shower scene at least?)
Worth buying, and seeing some of the 80's Playboy Playmates like Lynda Weismeier on the screen is one hell of a treat!!

In Police Academy 2, Captain Lassard(Commandant Lassard's younger brother) is in charge of the worst police precinct in the city. Crime is at an all time high and the culprits are a street gang led by Zed, played by good ol' Bobcat Goldthwait. Captain Lassard is given our gang of academy screwballs to clean up the streets in 30 days or command of the precinct goes to Lt. Mauser. Mauser is pretty much the equivalent of Lt. Harris in the previous film. The usual pranks and gags are played on Mauser(body cavity search, replacing his shampoo with glue, etc.), and the academy graduates are as boneheaded as ever, but they still save the day(and Lassard's job) in the end. And lets not forget they have to break up a brawl that has broken out at the Blue Oyster Bar!! Some of the characters from the first film have dropped out of the ... Read More
