Very good movie from Hitchcock. One of the first movies to delve into psychology. Peck and Bergman are very good. Dali dream sequence of some renown and interest.

VHS : Native Son (1986)
I understand the perspectives of the other online-reviewers; however, being an English teacher, I have found this video to be quite beneficial and complimentary in assisting me and helping my students to understand the characterization and themes in Native Son. It is not an outstanding performance; however, it does offer a color cinematic version, while having actors that are recongnizable to a younger generation.

I do not believe that many outstanding novels can ever really be properly and accurately portryaed on film; that is really a daunting task for directors, writers, and producers. To this date, I can only say that The Color Purple has actually achieved cinematic success, due in large part to the creative genius of Steven Spielberg. That is a rarity.

However, I have ... Read More

Fun movie to watch a lot of action silly at times, but I really enjoyed it, if you not a Bond fan, you will still like this movie, much better than the other Bond move that Dalton was in.

This is one of the better historical films made about the war in the Pacific. and the 'thirties and 'forties aviation navy.

I was in naval aviation near the time this was written about, and know the aircraft depicted. The depictions are accurate; one of the rare movies not to throw in the wrong airplane in a battle scene. Like many other similar films about that period (Midway, Pearl Harbor, Tora, Tora, Tora, etc.) using U.S. Navy film footage from the color documentary, filmed aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, The Fightin Lady, the footage shown was appropriate for the type of aircraft shown, including my favorite naval fighter of all time, the F6F "Hellcat" Grumman fighter which is credited with shooting down nearly eighty percent of all Japanese aircraft shot down in combat in the Pacific ... Not my favorite Capra movie OR Tracy and Hepburn movie, but well worth watching because of the wonderful pairing of actors and director! Tracy and Hepburn are a magical pair no matter what movie they are in, and Frank Capra always has a happy ending even for difficult situations. This movie almost seems like a role reversal to Tracy and Hepburn's movie "Woman of the Year". Angela Lansbury did a wonderful job in the movie also.

VHS : Man of the House
If you do not know about this movie, then you are about to be served with a treat unlike any treat you have ever received.

It stars Chevy Chase, who IMHO has just gotten funnier over the years, and Jonathan Taylor Thomas (the star of Home Improvement) as nutty people saying the zaniest things. Disney scores another home run with Man of the House, and the comedy grabs you by the throat from the very first scene and never loosens its grip.

If you've never seen any Chevy Chase movies (and what's wrong with you, if so?!) then this is definitely the one to see. He is very, very sarcastic which is my sense of humor too, and he has some of the funniest faces and zingers that you'd ever want to see/hear. But he has definitely met his match with the kid from Home Improvement, who delivers wisecracks like ... Read More

9.Southern Yankee starring: Red Skelton, Brian Donlevy, Arlene Dahl, George Coulouris, Lloyd Gough

This fun 1948 comedy by Edward Sedgwick is like a cross between "Uncivil Warriors" (the 1935 Three Stooges short with the stooges playing Capt. Dodge, Lt. Duck, and Lt. Hyde) and "Advance to the Rear" (a 1964 comedy starring Glenn Ford and Stella Stevens). It is not quite as zany as the Stooge classic but has more physical comedy than Ford's film, including stunts designed by Buster Keaton.

Red Skelton plays Aubrey Filmore, a bumbling hotel bellboy in 1865 St. Louis, who spends most of his working hours tracking down imaginary spies among the guests. Aubrey's bumbling pays off one afternoon when he accidentally knocks out a guest who turns out to be a legendary spy Confederate spy called the "grey spider". His good fortune continues when a southern belle, Sallyann Weatherby (Arlene Dahl) mistakes him for the spider. ... Read More

The 3rd and last installment still remains true to the first 2 films, with Don Wilson once again returning as the good doctor and expert in martial arts "Johhnny Wu". Unfortunately, the impressive cast of American martial art actors (including Ron Yuan, Eric Lee, Dale Jacoby, Vince Murdocco) do not return. In fact, neither does Maria Ford, who's character has been killed in a car accident years ago, but did give a son to Johnny. While the story is a little more organized in this film, the cheesy villains and lack of fun excitment that the first 2 films held keep this from making any overall imporovements in the series.

The beginning of ROF3 was a bit confusing, with a few scenes of action conflict that actually held no ties to the main story. It gave me this impression that it was just time fillers and to once again ... Read More
