VHS : Men Don't Leave
This film is an overlooked masterpiece. Jessica lange, Joan Cusack, and Chris O'Donnell(in his film debut) are excellent, as is the entire film. It's very well acted, written, directed, and musically scored. Another screen gem languishing in the vault unreleased, to the detriment of audiences all over the world who are missing out on such a wonderful film. You'd think Warner Bros. would want to release it and make money, why they haven't is beyond me. They need to this year already, we've waited long enough. I'm so sick of going to Best Buy and seeing such putrid selections of lame films available on dvd knowing this film, as well as "Resurrection" w/ Elloen Burstyn, Sam Shepard, and Richard Farnsworth, are not able to be purchased on dvd. It's a crying shame and both Universal(anamorphic dvd's of ... Read More

This film is very close to the nerve centers of practically all Marines because it so very realistically depicts their experiences in either boot camp and/or Vietnam. There isn't one that didn't feel a mysterious tingle in the back of his neck and a shiver down his spine when he first heard Lee Ermy calling cadence in the boot camp segment of the movie. Nuf said about the film except to say that the video and audio transfer to blu-ray is outstanding. The anamorphic treatment that allows it to fit 16X9 TVs is excellent. Makes it seem even more realistic. Buy It.

VHS : Man Who Captured Eichmann
The foundational story, which is the 1961 capture of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann by the Israeli Mossad, is engrossing. I thought the Argentine post WW II atmosphere was nicely created.

The weak link was Arliss Howard, who played the principal agent in the capture operation. Very, very weak. At one point during the mesmerizing dialogues that took place in the makeshift temporary "jail", I recall thinking what a shame it was that this lightweight actor was turning in such a shallow performance during this intimate and captivating interview of the infamous Eichmann. Then I had to remind myself that this wasn't Eichmann . . . it was Robert Duvall. Which brings us to the matter of Robert Duvall . . . .

Duvall deserved an Oscar for this. (I realize that this was a made-for-cable ... Read More

The movie was pretty much a dud until the final one "Wet". WOW!
They saved the best short film for last! Cynda is incredibly gorgeous and the camera didn't miss her beautiful body. It was tastefully done and it didn't go overboard with exploitation. The eye popping "money shot" is when she stood up in the tub with suds running down her backside, WOW!!
That shot alone gives this movie 5 stars from me. This review refers to the DVD version
