This early 80's creation of an international elite fighting unit with ultra-secret military technology eliminating evil dictators was clearly intended to impress children riled up by the re-introduction of G.I. Joe. However, this movie is terrible. God Awful. Unspeakably poor. However, therein lies its charm. The plot is paper thin, yet impossible to clearly follow. The acting is perhaps some of the worst to ever grace the silver screen. The effects are poor, and if you want the WORST blue screen effects shot EVER (!) be sure to stay to "exciting" finale. Yet, as a small child, the movie was quite fun. And now, with the whole being so ridiculous, I can easily get through the movie from laughter. [The first time I showed it to a friend with a rather discriminating cinematic taste, he ... Read More

I bought this movie because I remembered watching it as a little girl. (I think we had a different version because there was not so much cussing.) This is a good movie minus the cussing. It's really an oldie but a goodie!

3.Pursuit of the Graf Spee (aka The Battle of the River Plate) starring: John Gregson, Anthony Quayle, Ian Hunter, Jack Gwillim, Bernard Lee

VHS : Pursuit of the Graf Spee (aka The Battle of the River Plate)
If you'd like to see how talk and diplomatic maneuvering in the hands of two masterful filmmakers can turn what could have been a routine action movie into something special, try Powell and Pressburger's The Battle of the River Plate. It's late 1939 and WWII has started. The German pocket battleship Graf Spee is wreaking havoc with British shipping. Three British cruisers led by Commodore Henry Harwood (Anthony Quayle) are in pursuit. Harwood makes an educated guess that Captain Hans Langsdorff (Peter Finch) will head toward South America for one last series of kills before returning home. He's right, and the first part of the movie is a brutal sea battle between the Graf Spee, which has 11-inch guns and hits harder, farther and faster than anything the British have, and HMS Exeter, HMNZS Achilles ... This is a fascinating film, and one interesting thing it does is cut from the then present to the 1940s. So, for example, someone is explaining how even though they worked for the pro-Nazi Vichy government, they never realy believed in it, or took it that seriously. Then it cuts to a firebrand pro_Nazi speech they made in 1942.

The people who emerged with the most integrity, were the TV repairman who had been a Conservative Resistance leader (Codename Gaspar), George Marchais, then head of the French Communist party who said that you had to keep killing Germans or you would lose your members, and the man in dark glasses who-as a youth- had joined the Waffen SS, however you can imagine what he would have been like in 1944: killed you as soon as look at you, very chilling.

Charming Billy deals with a man who's life is quickly spiraling out of control. His problems look like our own...

* he is married to a woman he does not love
* she is pregnant with a child he does not want
* his mother will not let him grow up
* his father is ashamed of his lack of ambition
* he works at a job he loathes

While this looks like nothing more than another day at the office for many of us, it's enough to make ole Billy-boy pull the proverbial snap-o, climb his town's water tower, and proceed to gun down the local townsfolk - never stopping once to take off his work tie, mind you. I'll have to admit, there's been times I've wanted to do the same, especially after the local high school referendum passed, raising my towns taxes to an almost inhumane ... Read More

An unusual drama that follows the life of acting wannabe Gary, played with a strut and cocky demeanor by sometimes underappreciated Lochlyn Munro. Munro's best role has been as the jock in the first two SCARY MOVIE spoofs, but he takes on a more serious role in this unusual drama. Munro lands a parttime gig as a bouncer in a ritzy LA Club, run by the ubiquitous Lou Diamond Phillips. At first a laid back, nice All American guy who still calls his mother, Munro evolves into a thuggish, self-centered, cocaine snorting, alcohol swizzling tough guy. As his reputation grows, he is recruited by rival club owner Andrew Divoff (Wishmaster), a Russian mafia member. Phillips vows he'll get even with Munro for leaving him, and he does in a pretty predictable way. Ed Lauter is around as the fire marshal who ends up closing ... Read More

The price on this tape was great and the delivery was very timely. The tape box shows wear (as stated) but the tape is in excellent condition. I would certainly use this seller again without hesitation.
