VHS : The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
This is the best story ever. Anyone who has particiapated in the Christmas pageant chaos will find it reassuring that their activity is not the only one with problems.

I saw this video many years ago and hoped it was out on DVD. It is still not out. I am willing to wait but hope it is out before next year.

Kind of cheesy, but good anyway. John Schneider looks really great in this movie. Mostly a feel good movie.

VHS : The Lonely Lady
Let no one say that this Harold Robbins show biz potboiler doesn't begin with a bang: On the very day that Valley High student Pia Zadora wins an award as "most promising English major," she parties with fast Beverly Hills High students, one of whom --- weed-smoking Ray Liotta --- fondles her award and proclains its resemblance to a member of the male anatomy, fondles her breast ("Valley girls are anxious to please!"), throws her onto the lawn ("I'm gonna give you something special!"), and rapes her with the nearby garden hose. All this in the film's first fifteen minutes! (You may think it can't possibly continue at this crazed, trashy pace --- but you are wrong: In the seventy-six minutes left, there are eight nude love scenes, two lesbian encounters, two showers, one hot tub, one Jacuzzi, ... Good period movie with fine performances by Mattau and Glenda Jackson. Mattau plays a Doctor who must choose between empty relationships with young sexpots or a good older woman. Guess who wins. Good representation of films of that era.

VHS : Oh God Book 2
Let's face it, sequels usually never surpass the original. Sure Terminator 2 and Godfather 2 are exceptions, but in the movie world, it's a simple fact sequels suck! But just because it's not usually as good as the original, does not mean that Oh God Book II is a bad movie. I actually think it deserves more credit. George Burns reprises his role as God and that within itself is a good thing because portraying our Lord is no easy feat and he saves the movie from every aspect. It's basically the same premise as OH God, only this time it's a little girl told to spread the Word. The cast is a bunch of nobodies and mind you some of the acting is pretty bad, but the little girl Tracy Richards played by (Louanne - don't ask why she has no last name, nobody really knows) but Louanne does an acceptable acting job and her little ... VHS : A Walk in the Spring Rain
After reading the video box description of this movie, I expected to find a bored wife of an ego-maniac college professor bore finding her true love at long last. What one discovers early in the movie, however, is that Fritz Weaver, her husband, is no ego-maniac, and certainly does not ignore or neglect his wife, even while working on his book. In fact, the idea that Anthony Quinn was finally offering Ingrid Bergman true love ended up seeming quite laughable to me. Her marriage was closer to "true love" than her affair with a mountain man in Tennessee, in my opinion.

And casting Anthony Quinn as a Tennessee native also ended up seeming laughable to me. I'm guessing the only reason he was casted as such, was because anyone who actually seemed like a real Tennessee mountain man, would in no way on God's earth attract ... Read More

10.Anderson Tapes starring: Sean Connery, Dyan Cannon, Martin Balsam, Ralph Meeker, Alan King
directed by: Sidney Lumet

VHS : Anderson Tapes
"The Anderson Tapes" is loaded with the sort of richness that you can count on when its director, Sidney Lumet is at the helm. Sean Connery heads up the sort of first-rate cast of character actors that routinely gravitate toward any Lumet film. There is the sprinkling of humor and the rising suspense that you might expect from a movie about a plot to commit a robbery. The director's masterful touch with pacing keeps the picture moving in a thoroughly engrossing fashion. Most of all, his gift for drawing intense and powerful performances from his casts is in full flower here. Screen the recent Lumet film, "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" and you will see an even more intense and infinitely darker "caper-flick" that is, likewise, very worthwhile.
