I have seen this movie and am currently trying to find it on DVD. It truly is a reliable account of the events leading up to the founding of the state of Israel. It really should be shown in high school history classes.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I got quite a few laughs out of it. There are a couple of Lucy flicks I like better, so that's why I rated it a "4". The first situation, where she is in prison, is a little beyond reality. That is, I can't believe she served so much time. They should have been able to get her out sooner. Anyway, I love to watch the old TV series, but it's refreshing to see Lucy in a different role. Lucy was as good as I expected her to be. And Jack Oakie is as crazy as ever, but I usually enjoy movies he's in as well. I would recommend this movie to any classic movie fan, and if you're a Lucy fan, that just makes it better.

"If men could count on women like that star, there'd be much smoother sailing. And a lot less wrecks." -- Bing to Shirley Ross

This pleasant escapism from the 1930's may be the quintessential Crosby film. Filled with nice songs like "Blue Hawaii" and Harry Owens' Academy Award winner, "Sweet Leilani," and an enjoyable story you don't have to think about too much, it entertains and leaves a smile on every film buff's face.

Bing is publicity idea man Tony Marvin. His latest brainstorm is about to backfire because Georgia Smith (Shirley Ross), the Pineapple Girl, wants to go home rather than write a weekly column about how great Hawaii is. Substituting his own flowery discriptions of the islands, he romances her to keep his boss, and his job, but the plan backfires ... Read More

How this movie has failed to make it to DVD is a SIN. Probably the funniest movie ever made left to be only found in the aisles of your lost VHS stores, but maybe there's hope in the future.

PT3 is about as outlandish and hilarious as you'll ever find in an action flick that relies on a 4 foot crack smoking midget to be the, ball snuggling against your face to suffocate you, villian. Only to finish off with him being some wise sage of the cage helping the main character win at the big fight. That's right, "the midnight thud" who in the middle of the night gets dropped off in a sack in your cell when you're considered a problem with your inmates, becomes the hero in the end.

You'll never have another experience in your life after watching this movie. There's nothing that you'll ... Read More

VHS : Prime Suspect 4 - Inner Circles
Out of all of the Prime Suspect movies, this is one of the best ones. As always, the cast, including Helen Mirren, gives strong, believable performances; and the writing and dialogue are intelligent, realistic, and emotionally charged.

Without giving away the plot, I'll say this much: this PRIME SUSPECT film is less about who did it than it is about HOW and WHY. This time, The Detective Superintendent and her team investigate a murder in the upper-class and they close in on an angry, evil woman who is desperate to keep her dirty secrets hidden. It's a suspenseful, thrilling story of evil, deceit, and familial dysfunction, well-written and convincingly acted. Don't miss it.

On a side note, if Aaron Spelling ever wants another actress to play a villainess on any ... Read More

VHS : A History of Britain - The Complete Collection
There is no one quite like Simon Schama. He makes the history of Britain coherent, understandable, and unique, and he has the ability to help the viewer comprehend the great achievements of Britain while being honest, humorous, informative, clear and articulate in the presentation. His stories and visuals are very well chosen. He is one of only a few presenters of history in video - Bronowski and Clark come to mind - who can stimulate the mind and excite the viewer through audio and visual imagery that truly resonates long after the first viewing. "The History of Britain" is a worthy addition to any documentary collection, and really no one tells it like Simon Schama. And if the viewer wants more, there is always Simon Schama's "The Power of Art". Two great programs.

This review is for the full uncut version which lasts about 90 minutes. I've recently purchased this movie again and I received the 82 minute version which removes a lot from the sex scenes. The long version is great and I would like to get my hands on it.

VHS : Taste the Blood of Dracula
This is the fourth instalment in Hammer productions' Dracula series. The storyline is quite unique in that it centers on a group of middle-aged businessmen who inadvertently cause the Count to be resurrected via an occult ritual conducted by a young nobleman, Courtley. They kill Courtley during the ritual, and leave in a hurry, not realising that by committing murder, they have not only caused Dracula to rise again, but awakened his anger. Dracula is bent on revenge for his acolyte's death and proceeds to kill the trio off by manipulating their children.

The acting in this movie was actually pretty good. Christopher Lee reprises his role as the evil Count and actually has quite a few lines of dialogue here, all delivered in his usual deadpan style. His blood- red eyes and demented expressions are ... Read More
