I bought this movie strictly because I'm a Jonathan Frid fan. I, of course, loved (and love) him as Barnabas Collins, but I really became a fan after hearing some of the audio work on his site, some from his acclaimed one-man readers theater shows of the '80s and '90s, some completely new material. I knew about "Seizure", that it was Oliver Stone's first film, and a few plot items, but that was it. I was anxious to see this, his only non-DS starring role in a movie.

The plot has been adequately covered in previous reviews, so I won't restate it here. I thought the screenplay, by Stone and Edward Mann, did a good job of twisting and turning, keeping you guessing right up to the end.

Many of the acting performances, particularly by the women, were rather stiff. ... Read More

Growing up in Nashville in the 70's I remember vividly when they were filming scenes for this movie which everyone was talking about. The plot and the characters are pure camp but if you like a good old fashioned blood and gore flick then here it is if you can locate a copy. Agnes Moorehead (Endora from Bewitched) in her last role before dying plays Delilah Charles who lives on an old plantation that her papa left to her when he passed away. He is buried in the old mausoleum on the property. Poor Delilah is surrounded by her dysfunctional siblings Michael Ansara (ex-husband of Barbara Eden)who plays Morgan. He shows up when he hears that Delilah is near death. He brings along a daffy girlfriend named Buffy. Dennis Patrick and Anne Meacham play the other two sibs. Will Geer (Grandpa Walton) makes ... I am going to break away from the pack and call this one a five star movie. It is a slow movie, unless you are constantly analyzing the actors, and why they did this or that, or played it this way or that way, which is the way I viewed it. I found the performances riveting and could not take my eyes or mind off the Peter Fonda character--such great acting as a pale, insecure, asylum inmate. Warren Beatty does not have a huge body of work--has restricted himself--so you take a greater interest in the parts he plays and why he plays them. He is always good. This movie about asylum innmates and the medical staff is fascinating. Made in the sixties, it is a great groundbreaker for "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "Awakenings." The added ingredient would be romantic obsession. If you have never ... Read More
