VHS : Follow the Sun: The Ben Hogan Story
Being a golfer and a fan of the sport for many years, I was very interested in seeing this, which I did when the VHS first came out. Later, I saw it again because of the same reason plus I usually find Glenn Ford's films entertaining.

Well, the story moves well, it didn't bore me, but I did have problems with the accuracy of it and the general theme of the film, telling us that Hogan really was a nice guy who cared lot about what the public thought. From every account I have read, and from a couple of people who met him or knew him, that was not true. The fact is that he was a mean SOB and remained that way most of his life. This movie looks like it was made by his press agent. It's ridiculous and ruins what otherwise is an inspiring story.

No one can deny Hogan's ... Read More

VHS : Curse of Werewolf
I saw this movie when I was 16 years old and I never forgot it. I went back to the theatre several times because I enjoyed it so much. When I was older, I rented the movie to see if it was as really as good as I recalled it to be. I was just as impressed with it when I was 30 as I was when I was 16. I can still say(and I am 59 years old) tthis was the best horror film I ever saw and definitely the one I thought was most memorable in my life. It was all due to the fantastic color and acting. I have seen other movies with Oliver Reed and Yvonne Romain and I can say that they were my favorites in the horror film industry. Oliver Reed in anything was fun to watch.

The 1972 version of War and Peace is an excellent video. It captures the flavor of the original book, casting of the parts is outstanding, direction is crisp, and editing exceptional.
I believe any student of history will enjoy this diversion.

VHS : Three Violent People
I'm a big classic movie buff, and this rates among my top favorites. Westerns, as a rule, aren't my style, but this one has enough romance to keep me interested. I have no idea why they named it 'Three Violent People'. If anything, this movie lacks the shoot-em-up scenes so common in westerns. None of the three main stars live up to the violent part, but they do fill their classic character parts well. The chemistry between Heston and Baxter is superb.

VHS : Dunera Boys, The
Thank God that film makers choose to still do movies on uncharted territory. As many Holocaust films have become famous in recent years,DUNERA BOYS is an extremely odd yet refreshing retelling of little known, yet still highly controversial events that occured between England and Australia during WW2.England felt the need to purge itself of people of questionable connections during this time. These poor souls were placed aboard the ship Dunera and not even told where they were going. After an arduous journey the Dunera lands with it's cargo of disenfranchised in the dumping grounds of The British Empire,Australia. What transpires over the next three years for those who were the prisoners and those who "guarded" them is almost too odd to be believable-yet this story is positively true!!!The film can be a ... 7.Heaven Or Vegas starring: Suzanne Barnes, Raif Battist, Geoffrey Blake, Yasmine Bleeth, Matt Bohling

VHS : Heaven Or Vegas
This is a very tedious and tiring movie about two losers who seek to escape Las Vegas in search of a better life. Yasmin Bleeth's character is a flakey chick who kind of reminds me of my ex wife which is one reason why I divorced her and am now happily single. She seems to spend most of this movie sticking things into her mouth wether they be cigarettes, gum or lollipops. Maybe she needs Therapy for an Oral Fixation? So these two losers head for their "Ideal Shangri La" which is supposed to be Montana but they realize they have traded the lights of Vegas fo the petty small mindedness of a country townfolk. I give this movie 5 stars because the vistas in it look impressive.

VHS : Dr. Strange / Movie
Well I don't know too much about the comic's origin but I'am willing to bet it's ten times better. This movie allegedly a shot for a tv series suffers from absolutey no story to cheap to zero special effects, and no action.

Peter Hooten as Stephen Strange is ok but nothing special. The story with Lindmer and evil Morgan LeFay and takeover of Earth is easy to follow but really there is no budget or great special effects to elevate the movie to the comic book level it needs to be interesting to the audience.

The first fourty minutes are nothing more than wishy washy soap opera stuff until Strange meets Lymer but even then as mentioned when Strange does battle with Lefay there are little effects to make it worthwhile until the last half of the movie. I will say it does become more ... Read More

10.Lord Peter Wimsey - The Nine Tailors starring: Ian Carmichael, Glyn Houston, Keith Drinkel, Elizabeth Proud, Anne Blake

VHS : Lord Peter Wimsey - The Nine Tailors
The Nine Tailors is generally agreed to be Sayers' finest book. There isn't much romance, but it uses flashbacks to put Lord Peter Wimsey in the frame of the First World War and explain his relationship to Bunter, his faithful man servant. Ian Carmichael delivers one of the outstanding performances of his career. The other characters are real, believable, people who suffered through WWI and the 1930's.
