VHS : Made in Heaven
Saw this when I was very young, maybe 9 or 10, and it somehow moved me in a visceral way that I simply cannot convey in words. But I never found out what it was called. With the memory of the powerful ending vaguely imprinted on my mind I vowed that I would one day find out the name of this movie. I have been clutching at straws for years trying to figure it out. Only recently did I find out, I'm now 25!

I have used the the Warner Brothers comment system on their website to try push for a DVD release. It MUST happen. AMAZON, if you can hear me, please do ALL you can.

VHS : Bang the Drum Slowly
bang the drum slowly is one of the few movies that lives up to the book. deniro/moriarty. wow! this is a slice of the majors before a backup catcher was a millionaire. and a 20 game winner sells insurance on the side. the concept of "TEGWOR," (the eternal game without rules) is machiavellian by way of jocks playing cards and playing the fans. it's true to a wince. this movie is the equal of bull durham and almost matches field of dreams. a true comedy in the classic sense.

Another rumination on the importance of and difficulties in communicating with the people who are closest to you. For which CB radio was the perfect medium in the 1970s. Paul Lemat is earnest to the point of being irritating. Candy Clark is pile of confusion and lust. You have to love them.

When Hilda Hensely (Patsy's mother) saw this movie she said, "I saw it once. That was enough for me."
Hollywood took all the dramatic liberties and artistic license it could in the making of this movie. Jessica Lange's performance is one of her best but her watching her lip-synch while Cline's real voice was heard on the Soundtrack is distracting as their voices are entirely different. Lange tends to overdo it on the lip-syching and one can tell she is doing it. Not good. No disrespect to Lange but they should have hired an actress who could sing....like Sissy Spacek who sang all of Loretta Lynn's songs on "Coal Miner's Daughter."
Ed Harris plays Charlie Dick well enough but is extremely unlikeable. It is inacurrate at all counts to portray him as a wife-beater. Sure, ... Read More

One of the Funniest, and saddest, movies made. But, even after the sad instances, there would be a spirit lifting line or scene. I laughed hard and cried harder.

What a debacle!!! This film directorial debut by Award winning playwright/actor Sam Shepard is a shameful waste of time and talent.

During the full moon cycle in The North Woods off of Lake Superior a family reunites when the patriarch,Bertram (Charles Durning) is thrown from his horse,Mel. Katie (Jessica Lange) comes from "the big city",pregnant and unwed to her father's side. He asks her to shoot the horse.......and it just plummets downhill rapidly after that!

This was the most unpleasant and painful 88 minutes that I have spent with a film in a long time. This film is essentially about the bizarre folk of Northern Minnesota who descend from the wild ancestor mongol hordes. The women have gone wild. They do not need men and have survived in spite of them. The men have worked their ... Read More

Hey, my mom's in it with a cameo as an Amish woman, how could I not give it 5 stars? She was on vacation in southern Pennyslvania near the location of the filming and got tapped by director Delbert Mann to appear in a scene. But, since she was playing Amish, she couldn't wear her usual make up. Oh, well, the sacrifices people make for show biz. Miss you, mom.

This movie stars C. Thomas Howell who plays 18 year old Bubba Drum. With a name like this you can expect some weird things to happen and they do. Bubba is no candidate for Mensa as he had to repeat the fourth grade. He is dating Kelly Preston in this movie but he ends up getting her mother pregnant played by Ann-Margret.I don't think Anne is interested in Bubba's mind and I know he is not interested in hers either. I think these three losers should all appear on the Jerry Springer show. I give this movie 5 stars because I do like Ann-Margret and thankfully she has appeared in better fims than this.
