I remember watching this growing up. It is a funny movie with witty comments as well as nerd jokes. Also, not to mention "robots do not feel things, they run programs", well clearly not Johnny 5.

I bought this to show my wife where they came up with the design for WallE (the face) and she thought the movie was going to be stupid but she loved it to and has watched it several times since we got it 2 weeks ago.

I can understand why someone named "Ramrod" wouldn't like this film. It could be seen as indulging the worst of the late 20th century therapeutic movement. Very woman-centered, very emotional. Yet that's what's great about it.

It captures a time beautifully, a time when the blush of second wave feminism had worn off and it was a given that women were out there, having careers, showing their competence in the wider world. Yet we still had emotional lives to tend to, we still had to negotiate relationships with men in a world that had changed, we still needed to come to terms with the parts of ourselves that didn't fit the template our culture had set out for us.

This film was lovely in its evocation of a quiet retreat from all that to a space in which these women could ... Read More

This video contains 3 episodes: Accidents Happen, Auto Erotica, Jake's Story.

Accidents Happen, made me shout, "What an accident! What a funny twist on something that shouldn't happen!" It's about a sweet lonely Italian maid, with peachy skin, reddish peach hair, a cute peachy uniform. This mild episode is good to watch alone, as it could get a woman thinking, "What if I were in her position, in another's house? Would I go through their things, and would I enjoy it? Would I get caught, would it backfire?" After trying to get it on with the pool boy, yes, everything does backfire, in an intriguing way I wish upon no decent person. A light humorous touch is woven throughout. Towards the end, her room and the lighting in it is also very peachy, in a luminous, romantic way. Zalman ... Read More

Let's face it. We all went to high school where the socialites and the jocks ran the school while the rest of us were considered low class. We couldn't get respect at school or at home. The co-central character Samatha played brilliantly by Mollie Ringwald, wants to be sought after by the best looking boy in school and honored at home on the most important day of her life, her sixteenth birthday. The other co-central character Farmer Ted aka The Geek played by Anthony Michael Hall wants to be the high school stud but is hopelessly pure geek. Samatha and The Geek both end up obtaining all they ever dreamed of and more within 24 hours time. Heck of a deal. The movie is really enhanced with the continuous smart ... remarks of Samatha's little brother and the wild and sex crazy Long Duk Dong played by Gedde ... Read More

HOW does Rob Lowe look exACTly the same as he did 20some years ago? Check out one of the sexier BratPacker movies, and tell me you don't play "spot-the-earlier-work-of-bigger-stars..." Cute boy-meets-girl/fish-outta-water/redemptive-loner/look-how-much-we-learned,-aren't-we-noble? mash-ups. A better-than-most example of cheesetastic 80's mindcandy. Which is a GOOD thing! Watch as part of a Sixteen Candles/Ferris Bueller...Breakfast Club/Oxford Blues Double Feature Weekend and tell me you don't sink back to a lighter, easier place. 80's Rule, lol!

VHS : Buried Alive II
This movie is great. I'm a big Tim Matheson fan. To get the full impact of this movie, you should see the first one "Buried Alive" with Tim Matheson and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The sequel "Buried Alive II" is about a man who poisons his wife to get her inheritance so he can buy a yacht and continue his affair with his mistress. Problem is, once she is dead, he wants a quicky funeral and wants her embalmed twice. As in the first movie, where the wife poisons husband Clint Goodman (Tim Matheson) and he is dead, (so everyone thinks) everything goes wrong at the funeral home. The embalming machine goes berserk and there is no embalming done at all. This is when the movies get really good. Both of them actually. To see what the so called dead spouses do to get revenge on the spouse who poisoned them, but ... Read More
