This was an incredible piece of animation for its time. Very endearing, neat and memorable songs, and yes, pretty tripped out (it was made in the 70s, hello?). But it has The Camel With The Wrinkled Knees! What a sad, sad song he sang. Oh how I wish they'd re-release it on DVD. :(

VHS : Pinocchio's Christmas
I've always loved the immortal story of Pinocchio and of course treasure the classic animated Disney film released in 1940 that continues to enchant viewers of each new generation. It has been an absolute joy this last Christmas gone then to finally see this delightful Rankin and Bass "animagic", which originally premiered on television back in 1980 but strangely doesn't seem to be as well remembered as the other much loved specials that Rankin and Bass produced such as "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", and "Frosty the Snowman". "Pinocchio's Christmas", offers a different slant on the famous character of Pinocchio this time placing him in a Christmas setting and the charming little story combined with the excellent animagic stop motion work makes for a truly beautiful little Christmas special that ... VHS : A Family Circus Christmas
The star for the top of the Christmas tree can't be found! As you move thru the story, grandpa (who has recently deceased) 'connects' with Billy and shows him where the long, lost star is. It evokes feelings of love, family and home. No harsh language, only a sweet story with a moral - from a gentler time.

VHS : Mad Monster Party
If you were a great fan of old horror movies from the 30's and 40's this is a great one. I am suprised this never got the play like, The Great Pumkin Charlie Brown. It is a very funny spoof on all typical classic horror movie characters, as well as Ann Margaret and Jimmy Stewart. This has to be one of the last projects Borris Carloff worked on, I believe," Grinch that stole Christmas" is the last one. This is from the same guys that brought you Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer. I think the writting was excellent in this feature, reminds me of what pixar is doing now. An often overlooked claymation feature, that really deserves
more play during the Hallowen period.

THE STORY: This is a very comical story of Baron Von Frankenstein (who looks like Boris Karloff), and his plans to create a bride for his monster Frankenstein. After he creates the monsters mate, he decides to make arrangements for a lavish wedding at the Transylvania Astoria, where most of the story takes place. Of course when the other monsters that are invited to the wedding begin to show, it turns the whole hotel into a nut house of terrified guests and staff. Igor is jealous of the monster and wants the bride for his own and plots to steal her. One of the prominent characters is Norman, a direct steal of the Jerry Lewis character in "The Bellboy". One running gag is about a mailman who was scared nearly to death delivering the invitations to the monsters, and lands up quiting his job to take a job at his ... Read More

VHS : The Easter Bunny is Comin' to Town
I have a copy of the 2006 release of "The Easter Bunny Is Comin' To Town" and this 2008 Deluxe Edition and have compared them. The deluxe edition has definitely improved the quality. I checked it on our tv and computer. It isn't noticeably clearer, mind you, but the motion is less choppy, more smoothed over, making it a better video to watch. I'm not sure why the 2006 version was like this. The old VHS tape we have of it was smoother than the 2006 dvd, too. All in all, it's a fun, good feelin', holiday classic that an avid Rankin Bass fan like me can't do without. People, if you get a copy, save your eyes and get this newer one.
