VHS : The Winds of War
Unbelievebly great movie. One of the best movie I have ever seen. Done with great actors. It is well done and leave aside the bloody scenes of the war which we do not need to see and appreciate not seeing. The movie has been very appreciated by the family because of the excellent performance of the actors and the very good script.

VHS : Just Tell Me What You Want
I first saw this movie in the early 80's became an instant Alan King fan and purchased it immediately. The movie was hilarious. It is about a tycoon (Max) with a alcoholic wife (Connie), mistress (Bones) and a protective secretary (Stella) and how Max's agressive, manipulative and vindictive personality affects all. Anyone who watches this movie will never forget the hilarious scene where Bones (McGraw) attacks Max (King) at Bergdorf's.

You could classify this movie as the comedic version of Wall Street. Gordon Gecko - "Greed is good"
Max Hershel - "You don't get poor by taking."

It was wonderful to see Myrna Loy as Stella the protective and sensible secretary. Also who could forget Ali McGraw as Bones the intelligent and ambitious mistress caught up in Max's (Alan ... Read More

VHS : Goodbye Columbus
My mom had told me about this movie recently, I remembered seeing it as a kid. The title came across my list of Movies To See and I decided to give it a whirl. I found the material dated, unrealistic and rather annoying.

Richard Benjamin plays a middle class library employee in New York state who meets Ali MacGraw, one of the most beautiful women of all time, at a country club swimming pool one summer day. He falls for the siren (and who wouldn't with her gorgeousness) and they begin a happy, carefree summer romance. Of course her parents, upper class and Jewish who had risen up thanks to MacGraw's father's plumbing business, do not approve. When alone, they assure each other "She'll get tired of him", and "It won't last". MacGraw doesn't seem very serious about much of anything at this ... Read More

VHS : Getaway
As an action flick, 'The Getaway' is just OK. Some good shoot-'em-up sequences, some good car chase parts, and that innovative scene where McQueen and McGraw hide out in a trash compactor. The part where McQueen slaps around McGraw after learning that she slept with the prison warden to get him out early supposedly really happened during filming, and you could tell McGraw's crying and shock is real because McQueen totally improvised the slapping. The sexual tension and love/hate feelings between the two is very apparent throughout the film.

But one thing fails to be mentioned in the other reviews I've read here. I'm not trying to be politically correct by any means, but doesn't anyone find Sally Struthers' role in this movie totally offensive ? I mean, here she is, married to a veterinarian, with ... Read More

I made the mistake of buying the CheezyFlicks DVD of Convoy. This movie was shot in Panavision which is an anamorphic process whereby the camera lens "squeezes" the image horizontally to fit in a normal 35mm frame. The picture is then "unsqueezed" to an aspect ratio of 2.4:1 by the projection lens.

The "widescreen" CheezyFlicks DVD has an aspect ratio of about 1.85:1 and the image remains "squeezed" so that everything -- people, trucks, scenery -- is shown at about half its proper width. The distortion is so great as to make this DVD unwatchable. I would have given it zero stars if Amazon permitted.

There is no excuse for putting out a DVD in this manner. Pan and scan ("full screen") would have been better -- at least the half of the original image that was on the screen wouldn't be distorted. ... Read More

A provocative and unique adult love story. Dean-Paul Martin is a blond, blue-eyed young tennis hustler touring Mexico. Ali McGraw is a beautiful mysterious older woman. They seem to be from different worlds, yet find in each other a world of their own. She inspires him to become legitimate at Wimbeldon; he gives her a sense of self worth. Together, their chemistry ignites the screen against the backdrops of Monte Carlo, Cuernavaca, Mexico City, Los Angeles, New York, and Jamaica. A long list of tennis pros , including Pancho Gonzalez as Martin's no-nonsense tennis coach, Guillermo Vilas, John McEnroe, and Ilie Nastase also appear.

The fourth of the five Gunsmoke movies deals with the perennially
nasty possibility that law and justice can come into conflict.
A false witness puts ex-Marshal Matt Dillon into the type of danger
he had been notably skilled at disarming in his twenty years as US Marshal
of Dodge City. What should you do when law and justice apparently cannot
both be served? This movie shows the stark contrast between corruptible
New Mexico territorial lawmen, and the incorruptible Kansas peace
officer, retired.

An especially good movie for a new generation of Gunsmoke fans.
