VHS : The Dinner Game
This comic masterpiece was as big a riot for me as it was in my first viewing some 7 years prior, and it does indeed recall the satire of Moliere. However, this time I started to find the cruelty in the premise gnawing a bit at my conscience. Perhaps it was the chance in a second viewing to study the characters more than the plot, whereby Monsieur Pignon appeared too affectionate and likeable to ridicule for sport. I might have even tweaked the ending to inflict the final comeuppance on Pierre with NO help from Pignon. Then I slapped myself in the face with a reminder that THIS IS AFTERALL JUST A FARCE, with Pignon in the end no less a fool than, say, Stan of "Laurel & Hardy" or Norton of "The Honeymooners". And no less so than previously, I found myself getting caught up in the sequence ... Read More

I think this story itself had a lot of potential. Michael Biehn played an exellent role in becoming a pschotic killer hunting after his obsession. Alexandra Vandernoot filled the role completely as the lovely, courageous woman living in the wilderness in the unknown territories of reservation land...
Iowaka however played a good supporting role, what happened to her real voice? The screen setting was excellent and literally brought you back to the wooded days when travelling was done by dog-sled & snow shoes...those were the days!

This was a really funny movie. I usually don't like reading sub-titles, but I hardly even noticed them because the movie was so good. The humor is understated and well-done. I highly recommend this movie.

VHS : Highlander - The Gathering
This is the pilot episode of Highlander: the series staring Adrian Paul as Ducan Mcleod, cousin of Connor Mcleod. Christopher Lambert does make an appearence in this piece, which he did not do throughout the rest of the TV series, and this ties in nicely to the Endgame Movie, although the connection is not made, the Endgame film does put closure to the question asked in this film: who should and will win between Duncan and Connor. The first part of this film is good with Connor, but the second show is just extra added on like a second stand alone episode, out of place. Overall, a good piece of the Highlander history not to be passed up.
