VHS : Rampage
"Rampage" is a strange movie: it tells a small but nasty story of Charles Edgar Reece, a deranged young man on a killing spree, and the long courtroom battles that follow his arrest. What's so strange is that the movie seems awfully directed, even dull at times, more like a quicky or a routinely made-for-cable TV film. But its director is no one less than William Friedkin, the man who made such powerful films like "The French Connection", "The Excorsist" and "Sorcerer". Three movies which all had a lasting effect on its viewers.
The raw, almost documentery-like approach of Friedkin made these classics more than just entertaining fiction; they seemed real, and at some points very close to us.

So what happened on the set with Mr. Friedkin when he made "Rampage"? Was he bored, ... Read More

VHS : Sharon's Secret
Candace Cameron plays 16-year-old Sharon who has just killed her parents. Because she's in a catatonic state, Dr. O'Connor (Mel Harris) is brought in to examine her and determine whether she's faking it or what's causing it. Lots of family secrets get revealed pushing the story along, but it all seems pretty tame. The production is also second rate. About halfway through this flick we start to lose interest fast.

4.Desert Hearts starring: Andra Akers, Sheila Balter, Brenda Beck, Dean Butler (II), Patricia Charbonneau

The movie was a bit melodramatic but very effective in making it's point. As a woman who was happily married for 27 of 29 years and only discovered my "true" sexuality at almost 50yrs old, I can relate to the hesitancy of pursing this type of relationship. Based on my experience, I found it depicted a fairly realistic view of a female to female relationship.

What I dislike is the playing of audience's worst side.
The antihero status given to serial killers is a bad thing ( in moral
and social terms).
The publicity and books about them may sell;
true crime magazines go back in the 1800's, but
making the methods and motivations so public may encourage
others to do the same.
In this movie the female lead is done very well,
as is the staging and dialog. The movie is very well
done; it just have very few socially redeeming qualities
besides being a 'seller' at the box office.

VHS : Devil in the Flesh (1997)
Rose McGowan goes berserk as Debbie Strand, a homicidal highschool babe w/ a history of extreme violence. You see, she burned up her mum and mum's boyfriend before moving in w/ her gran. Now, this typical teen faces a new school as well as granny's hyper-religious nuttery. Deb just doesn't fit in. She also lusts after her unattainable english teacher, and soon explodes in a rampage of murderous revenge. I especially enjoyed her way of dealing with granny's tiresome dog. Oopsy daisy! Bowzer's had an accident! Poor pup! Of course, granny soon followed. Ms. McGowan has a vicious charm in her role that I found... well, hot! DEVIL IN THE FLESH has a modest but memorable body-count. After all, it's the quality, not the quantity that counts...

Another of my favorites. Wonderful acting and a good story behind it. That is why I buy these movies. I have seen them before and are the ones I want to see again and again.

This movie is one I'd seen years ago, but purchased recently because I did not have it in my collection, and because I've suddenly taken to accumulating Teri Garr movies.

In this somewhat predictable tale, the new nanny, hired so that the mother (played by Kathleen Quinlan) can spend more time at a shop she co-owns with the Teri Garr character, is supposedly brought in from France.

The sweet-faced nanny is obviously someone with secrets and we begin to see, almost immediately, how duplicitous she is.

Not to give away the surprise twists and the ending, suffice it to say that the nanny's sweet exterior is completely fake.

Worth watching.

I love this movie. It was a great horror flick, with what I thought was a good creative plot. The monsters in this movie were also well developed defenitally A quality. But sadly since this movie from what I saw didn't have any real big name actors or actress's I have to give it 4 stars. In fact the only actor in this flick who I even remember playing in another movie was Lou "Diamond" Phillips. I think he played in the TBS original motion picture "Red Water". But either way I thought all the actors and actress's still did a good job in this film.

This movie is extremely exciting with a taste of Gothic and horror in it. The cast were perfect in their roles and showed no sense of uncertainty while executing their varied roles. Delightful and charmingly horrifying.
