VHS : Little Lord Fauntleroy
This version starring Alec Guinness is clearly superior to the original. The story doesn't get cut off at the end as in the American original to keep it within the time limits, in short it is a quality English movie. This is a copy from a tape as it was never made as a DVD, too bad, some quality is lost. I would rate the DVD as good overall; quality script, actors, settings, color photography, but the sound was weak in places. Service was prompt.

Bought the original VHS copy in 1980. Have all but worn it out. Have been searching for another copy only to find that later versions are shorter in length. This version, with Rickey Schroeder and Alec Guiness, needs to be on DVD in the original full length. Loaned it to many friends and received the same review by all ages.

VHS : Little Dorrit - Part One : Nobody's Fault
I purchased this adaption of Little Dorrit several years ago on laserdisc and I enjoyed it, but I found that to fully appreciate this film it was necessary to watch it to the end. The point to this film adaption of a Dicken's book was to tell the same story twice but through differing viewpoints. Certainly the story is not as interesting or as gripping as Dickens more widely read novels and the film could have been improved by cutting and picking up the pace, but I believe the director accomplished his goal.

The first half of the film is dark and bleak, people are seen suffering a miserable existence and you do have to wade through a rather pessimistic view of life; but in the second half of the film we see a differing view of life. We see the same scenes over again but now we see them ... Read More

I like the movie, and the dvd set is fine, but I prefer to watch movies with the words and the mouth movements in sync. Amazon has sent me two of the two-disc special edition, and they're both out of sync.

VHS : Star Wars Trilogy (Special Edition)
I have been a Star Wars fan for as long as I can remember. I have seen all three of these films so much I can quote along with the movie word for word. When I got this for christmas a couple years ago, I was ecstatic. However, when I found out they were the new special editions, I got slightly annoyed.
Don't get me wrong, I still love the new special edition films. The additions and changes don't detract from the enjoyment of the films. They just seem to be unnecessary. Why mess with something that has become such a staple of our society?
Like I said, the additions and changes are minor, but they are still unnecessary. Like the whole music video type song they added in Return of the Jedi. It is all in a made up language anyway so it didn't add anything to the storyline at all. And when they add the jawa getting ... Read More

Great W.W.2 movie. With William Holden a great actor. I sure do miss him. He puts these new actors to shame. Good movie for any war buff to add to his or hers collection.
