VHS : The Brothers Karamazov (1958)
I saw this movie many years ago when I was little and liked it right away. It's a classic and I've been searching for a good German and English DVD for years but I found out it's obviously not available on DVD yet which I personally do think is a pity.

Fabulous acting and inspiring about points in life where people have to choose what sort of values they want to live by. It also shows the mass poverty suffered by the us in the past.

I would reconsider ordering a used video again; acturlly, probably never again! The first part was way too bright and light and the second part was too dark in several sections of the movie. If this movie becomes available new I would reorder it. Thank you- Margaret Weaver

VHS : St. Helens
Take my word for it, I have not found any other movie whose content deals with the eruption of Mt St Helens except this one and thank god the late Art Carney was in this or it probably would have only gotten 3 stars from me just for the build up to the eruption alone but his comedic jabs at the right moments made it all the more enjoyable to watch. It's another one of those pictures thats based upon fact but no doubt has some fiction interwoven into it in some spots, it's not the best volcano movie I have seen but it is by far NOT THE WORST...I gave it 5 stars because I truly liked all 90 minutes of this movie.

Disc always stops at the same location about 20 minutes into play, I am able to navigate forward to get it playing again but that ruins the movie. Defect discovered months after purchase, I plan to buy another in HD DVD or DVD format.

This movie and the DVD series of Seasons one, two and three, from the original T.V. show are a Must See. The lessons learned from them are integrating themselves into my life and creating permanent, positive changes. I heartily recommend everyone watch them, even if you saw the series 30 years ago. The lessons in life, if taken, will positively change your life forever. By the way, David Carradine is fantastic. No one could ever match his performance in such a role.

Norm Alden is doing commercials today.
Just saw him the other day in bank com-
mercial. David Carradine is both likable
and realistic in here. Good film with
good actors / actresses playing decent
roles. A fine change of pace for Mr.
Kung Fu.

This is a great film with great acting, that holds up better today than it probably did when it was made. American audiences must have been put off by a murderous, rapist lead in Paul Newman's Carrasco. Ritt is a very fine director and in this and other films, works with James Wong Howe, one of the most underated cinematographers of the 50's and 60's. Howe's camerawork is brilliant in this film, but hard to see because MGM/Warner has never released the widescreen version of the film. We are left with a shoddy pan and scan version which only gives us hints of the compositions that Howe marvelously created on the screen. The story holds up well, Ritt does a very admirable job remaking a classic in "Rashomon." Yes, Kurosawa made a better film, but Ritt made a very good film in his own right. Newman is great, Bloom ...
