VHS : Twister
Twister is one of my all-time favorite action movies and have watched it more times than I would like to admit. The best transfer on DVD still left alot to be desired. Now,the the transfer on Blu-Ray has been cleaned up and improved dramatically. It's not reference quality,of course, but I give the picture a solid 4 out of 5 for a movie of this age.I can't comment on the new lossless soundtrack because I am unable to decode yet.
Definitely highly recommended even if you have the latest DVD version.

VHS : Ferris Bueller's Day Off
In 1985 (the year I was born people!) a certain movie was released that ultimately became a phenomenon. It has been labeled the movie of the 80's; the poster child for teen films everywhere. It is lauded by many and sparked a generation of look-alikes that are still being churned out even today. That movie is `The Breakfast Club'.

I hate that movie.

The following year the same writer/director behind the overrated slosh known as `The Breakfast Club' wrote and directed `Ferris Bueller's Day Off', yet another film that has been labeled a film of a decade. This time though, John Hughes hit it out of the park. There is no `corn' factor that was so prevalent in `The Breakfast Club'. Sure, there is dancing and obvious 80's flare, but this is a teen movie that can still ... Read More

VHS : Speed
If ever there was a film that doesn't apologize for being "Hollywood" .....'Speed' has got to be it. This movie delivers action, action and more action to the point of absurdity, but it's a lot of fun. Hopper gives his usual wacko performance once again and Bullock is her usual cute self. Reeves fills in the "hero" shoes fine, but it's the "just one more over the top situation" that makes this film too much! Get the largest bowl in your house and fill it till it spills over with popcorn and enjoy.......don't forget to leave your brain at the door! The DVD transfer looks good, but it's a pretty basic release.

VHS : Star Trek Generations
It may be that I am in the very minority of people if I state that Star Trek Generations is far and away the best of the Next Gen films and one of the best of the overall series. I may be in the minority to talk about its philosophical themes that are all over the place in all the right places. It may be I'm the only person who sees this film as a philosophy piece like Blade Runner. But that's what I see it as. And though this film is definitely not as well-directed or well-made as the aforementioned Ridley Scott classic, the themes and astounding philosophical musings are very similar.

'Star Trek: Generations' deals with the themes of time, humanity, happiness, and obsession. The film revolves around a scientist of the name Dr. Tolian Soran (portrayed by Malcom McDowell of 'A Clockwork Orange') ... Read More

VHS : Class
Looking at "Class" again more than 20 years after I first saw it, I found it a better movie than I remembered. I could only recall a mediocre teen dramedy starring two Brat Packers, but this script is as smart and funny as it is flawed. Jonathan (Andrew McCarthy) is a working class young man who attends a posh prep school his senior year in hopes of getting into Harvard. His introduction to Vernon Academy is a humiliating prank played by his rich roommate Skip (Rob Lowe), but after a few bumps, they become fast friends. Determined to help Jonathan out with the ladies, Skip packs him off to a pick-up bar in Chicago one weekend. In spite of his clumsiness -or because of it- Jonathan meets an exciting older woman named Ellen (Jacqueline Bisset), and they begin an affair. But Ellen eventually discovers Jonathan's age. ... VHS : Cheaper By The Dozen
This is a silly movie where it's the Father's job to entertain the kids, and it's the kid's job to run the family's affairs. That isn't what the book was about, and it's not what this movie should have been about either.

Oh, and I think there were two jokes in the movie.

I thought Steve Martin (the person) was better than this.
