VHS : That Touch of Mink
I have this movie recorded off the television (when I was in 8th or 9th grade. I'm 25 now) on an old vhs tape, and it's one of my favorite movies. In fact, I've never not liked a Doris Day movie that I've seen (I haven't watched them all). Eventually I'd like to buy this movie (and most likely some of her other movies) on DVD. I highly recommend.

I saw this at the walk-in in the 60s when I was a little tyke and just loved it. I saw it on TV in the 90s and since I was living in Southern California I knew where the hood was so I searched one day and I found the house! It is in Calabasas right off the 101 and Mulholland Highway. I loved the finned cars and the gorgeous women. Damn, that Bob Hope was one lucky Bachelor. When it comes out on DVD I will buy it.

'The Adventures of Merlin Jones' has been available for years on DVD, but they have overlooked this funny sequel time and time again. It just doesn't make sense and the way Disney regurgitates their movies every couple of years, I figured this was bound to come out sooner or later! It's bad enough that a lot of there older films get horrible "pan & Scan" releases, but I'll take it anyway they want to do it at this point. I would hope it's not a "PC" issue!.....aargghhhh! :-( Please release the DVD!

I viewed this movie years ago at my local cinema and up to now I have not had the chance to view it again either on TV or Video. How refreshing it was to purchase the DVD and see it for what it is,a truly wonderful film. The on location photography is excellent and Kirk Douglas delivered his best performance since Spartacus eight years previous. True, one knows it dates from the sixties but it retains its power and surpisingly is only 96 minutes long. No movie today can pack as much tension in that time frame without overdoing the drama. All in all 5 stars for a great DVD,never mind that there are no extras

9.Days of Wine & Roses starring: Jack Lemmon, Lee Remick, Charles Bickford, Jack Klugman, Alan Hewitt

This movie is still one of my favorites about the subject of alcoholism. (Tender Mercies is probably the best movie on this subject). The narrative arc is somewhat overwrought. The Jack Lemmon character goes into delirium tremens twice! He does this not after he goes cold turkey and as a result of withdrawal symptoms but after one night of taking up drinking again. That doesn't make sense. Lee Remick's fondness for chocolate as a precursor to possible tendencies to alcoholism I think has been pretty much discredited. Nevertheless, you do wind up caring what happens to the characters. The supporting cast is great. I would recommend the movie.

This film has already been summarized & reviewed - for me, this is a 4* fun Elvis film; gave it a 5* rating to counter-balance the many 1* ratings complaining about the lack of a WS version - this is NOT an evaluation of the film - just irritates me! There is a 'flippy' letterbox version in 2.35:1 aspect ratio but it is not anamorphic (which is my preference - and I agree that the company should have done this movie in that format) - but this is a quite good comedic romp for Elvis & love Arthur as papa! Avoid the negative reviews and give this a watch, please.
